The Communications Coordinator plays a major role in two grants during a 12-month position. Leads and supports a social media coalition in raising awareness and understanding of global food and nutrition security as part of InterAction’s Global Food and Nutrition Security Project. The coordinator also helps project manage and facilitate adoption of a new development narrative by focal InterAction member international NGOs as part of InterAction’s New Narrative Project. Day-to-day project administration, member engagement, strategic thinking, and content creation, monitoring and amplification are important parts of involvement in both grants. The incumbent will operate with a combination of self-leadership, collaboration, and supervision.


Qualifications Required:
Bachelor’s Degree
3-5 years of work experience, including 2-3 years writing basic communications materials (messaging, communications pieces used externally)
1-2 years of experience writing and curating strategic content for social media and the web and using analytic tools
Strong experience crafting social media strategy and creating content
Experience running social media component for online campaign
Basic design experience (for use in social media)
Strong skills in articulating ideas in writing and in meetings (orally)
Strong interpersonal leadership and collaboration skills
Self-motivated, detail-oriented and highly organized with proven ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
Interest in international development issues
Interest in how communications content impacts perception

Qualifications Desired:
Experience creating social media systems from scratch
1-3 years global development sector knowledge
1-3 years advocacy and / or Capitol Hill experience
Experience monitoring media, building media lists and crafting basic media outreach materials
Experience working with InterAction members
An understanding of coalitions and how they work
