Corruption Has Become More Acceptable To Us That We Are Willing To Live With. by staymore: 11:27am On Jun 20, 2015
Having read the article on the Governor of Rivers state Barr. Nyesom Wike inauguration of a Seven man Panel to investigate the activities of his predecessor Gov Amaechi bordering on the following:.
•Sales of four Gas Turbine in Rivers state
Omoku 150MW Gas Turbine
Afam 360MW Gas Turbine
Trans-Amadi Gas Turbine
Eleme Gas Turbine
• Sale of Olympia Hotel (one of the biggest hotels in Ph)
•Monorail Project which over 40billion has been spent but nothing to show for it except pillars
• Withdrawal of N96 billion naira from from the state reserve fund
• Non execution of some major projects by contractors even having received huge payments from the govt as recorded.
•And many others, looting of govt cars, furniture etc

Why I caption this piece "Corruption has become more acceptable to us that we are willing to live with than to fight" is because of immediate condemnation by same Rivers people that Amaechi shouldn't be investigated; why are they scared on his behalf?
He hasn't been indicted by the panel, he has always bragged about his transparency and accountability, so why are people crying about what he Amaechi knows he has answers to?

I think an investigation is a process any public office holder should welcome anytime and all those against it should have a rethink.

The investigation itself is not the issue, but the intent. That is what Rivers people are protesting about.
Will this be the beginning of an anti corruption drive which he will abide with himself or is it some witch hunting to victimize the opponent.

When the devil start talking about going after people who harm Christians, you need to think again about what is going on. Wike fight corruption? Give me a break

As far as I am not an ardent supporter of Gov Wike, I don't also see his decision to investigate his predecessor as witch hunting.

The question is, if your records are straight are you supposed to be afraid?

If the sales of the Gas Turbines are true, then where is the money gotten from the sales?

Simple things as far as the seller feels he has a good intention of selling them.

As an elected Governor of a state, one of his major focuses is to reinstate the integrity of his state. May not be because of a personal beef with Amaechi.

Don't you think one day his own tenure will still come to an end and might also be called to clarify if there are areas of doubt in his govt?
