THE Kaduna Electricity and Distribution Company (KADECO) has said the military and other consumers in Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara and Kaduna states were owing the company N43 billion.

The Head, Customers Services, Alhaji Murtala Bello, disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Kaduna, the Kaduna State capital.

According to him, the military was indebted to the tune of N4.79 billion, making it the highest debtor, while the remaining amount was owed by the other customers.

"The total debt owed by all the divisions of military like 1 Division, Airforce, DIC, NDA is about N4.7 billion. Police owe about N270 million while other paramilitary agencies like Customs, Immigration, Prisons, NSDC, NDLEA and FRSC owe about N43 million," he said.

Bello affirmed that the management was doing everything possible to get the debt paid by the military, state as well as Federal Government establishments.

On why the company had not withdrawn its services from the debtors, especially the military, he disclosed that the management was currently discussing with the military authorities on how to pay the debt.
