10. Cavani sent off for getting fingered in his bum:
Cavani was given a red card in the Chile v. Uruguay game Wednesday after lashing out at Gonzalo Jara, but for good reason. In the replay, it is obvious that Jara had tried to finger Cavani’s bum, which caused Cavani to slash back a bit, which must have been all that the referee saw before sending the Uruguay star off.

9. Van Persie gets second yellow for shooting just one second after being called offside:
Arsenal’s Robin van Persie was given his second yellow card in a Champions League match against Barcelona for shooting just a second after being called offside. He said he was not able to hear the whistle because of the roar of the 95,000 fans, but was still sent off and unable to appeal the call.

8. Eric Cantona’s kung fu kick at fan:
Not many can or will forget Cantona’s furious kick and punches at a Crystal Palace fan. In case you want a reminder, watch all the glory below.

7. Loick Pires gets yellow for going to the toilet:
Sometimes you just have to go, and Pires really had to because he ran off the pitch to go to the fans’ facilities to take care of his business. He didn’t return to the game for another 40 seconds, and when he returned onto the field after without the referee’s permission, he was given one of the weirdest yellow cards we have ever heard of…

6. Yoav Ziv literally gets “kicked” out:
After being stepped on by a Stoke City player, Ziv’s shoe fell off and he was furious when the ref didn’t call a foul. So to get the assistant referee’s attention, he kicked his shoe at him, hence he was told to leave the match with a nice red card.

5. Clint Dempsey tears up ref’s notebook:
When a Seattle Sounders teammate got booked, Dempsey argued with the ref, and was so angry he took the referee’s notepad and tore it up while walking off the pitch. He received his second yellow for the move, and was the Sounders’ third player to be sent off, while one had gotten injured after all subs had been made, leaving the Sounders to finish with just seven men.

4. Eden Hazard red card for kicking ball boy:
Losing to Swansea, Chelsea were in a rush for time towards the end of the game to get an equaliser. But when a ball boy held onto the ball and laid on it, Hazard tried to pry it from him before resorting to kicking the ball out from under him, but not without getting a red card for his actions.

3. Fabregas’ insanely accurate kick to West Brom’s Chris Brunt in the head:
The somewhat comical interactions that ensued in this red card were interesting to say the least. When Diego Costa and several other West Brom defenders got in a heated argument, Fabregas was standing on the other side of the penalty area. He then kicked the ball towards the fans, but it actually hit Brunt’s head and a red card was the result. It was actually more impressive than anything, hitting Brunt’s bonce from a good 25 yards out.

2. Luis Suarez bites again:
Suarez is known for his biting antics, but when he did it for the third time in the World Cup against Italy last year, enough was enough. He chomped on Italy defender Giorgio Chellini and acted that his mouth had been hurt. He was not sent off as the ref missed it, but FIFA punished him hard, hitting him with a four-month ban from all football related activities.

1. Zidane World Cup head butt:
Probably one of the most famous red cards in football and World Cup history, France’s Zinedine Zidane headbutted Italy’s Marco Materazzi in the 2006 World Cup Final in Berlin. It was reported that Materazzi insulted the French star’s sister, but he was given the red card which signalled the end of his fantastic international career.
