Bought one from computer village, tried it on my PC,only to discover it was V.S .net 2003 TRIAL VERSION!, what a rip off!.

Go back there and buy the right one from someone trustworthy, insist on testing it before paying. There is a very big difference between VB2005 and VB.Net 2003. The .NET framework they were built for is different.
Else download the express edition, free from microsoft:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/express/support/install/

Though some features are missing which you may not miss untill you get to a certain level, it's almost like the real thing

Or Get a reputable store to buy the genuine CD, you'll surely pay through your nose
