Otamendi Agent Says Man United Target Will Sign With New Club by johnson055: 8:31am On Jul 02, 2015
Some interesting quotes have appeared from Eugenio Lopez, the agent of Nicolas Otamendi. Lopez used to represent Angel Di Maria when the footballer was making a name for himself in Argentina, and when Di Maria moved over to the Gestifute stable it appears that Lopez retained an interest and is still an advisor to the Manchester United player at some level.

Lopez was clearly angered by Real Madrid's treatment of Di Maria last summer. The Spanish club made his move to Manchester United difficult and even sent a message to him at the World Cup, pressuring him not to play for Argentina unless he was 100% fit. Di Maria has spoken about that situation publicly and it appeared unfair and almost bullying behaviour from Real Madrid.

Lopez certainly wasn't impressed and, according to Cope in Spain, he therefore wouldn't have Otamendi move to the club. There had been reports that Otamendi would be a replacment for Sergio Ramos at Real Madrid but Lopez says that his client will have signed up with a new club before any Ramos transfer.

The agent was quoted as saying "Before Sergio Ramos goes, if he does, from Real Madrid, Otamendi will already be playing for another club."

There aren't a lot of clubs who can afford Otamendi and Manchester United are the only one who Cope mention. If Ramos fails to come off then Otamendi would be a more than adequate alternative and it appears he was the plan before the Ramos circus came into town. Should Ramos go to Manchester United and Madrid then move for Otamendi, we just can't see the defender turning them down regardless of what Lopez has said.
