We must fail in sports
These are few among the reasons Nigeria must fail in sports
The fund chain
The sporting sector of Nigeria is being controlled not even by the respective sporting bodies but jointly with the sports ministry and the federal government. Why won’t we fail?
The federal government allocates some funds to the ministry to help in the control of our sport scene but before these funds leave they had to be pinched. It now goes to the ministry the same thing happens to it. It goes to the sporting bodies, especially the NFF because the NFF is the only considered sports body in Nigeria today, the money had to be pinched again. This does not help, although the govt. allocation is not the only source of fund but that one should be as well managed to help in the development of sports at any angle. This typically is an e.g. of birocratic bottleneck. Our athletes have no other choice than to seek for greener pastures.
Nepotism, Tribalism and Opportunity
The concepts of nepotism and tribalism has affected every part of our economy not even killed us but it kills s and never wants us to reincarnate, what a murder. Visit any local club in Nigeria, not basically those in our local leagues but those In the rural Nigeria, there you see wasting talents. Why not conduct annual talent hunt to help produce the best sportsmen in this country. This makes opportunity to be at the side of all that recognize it. This would tell the real value of Nigerians in the sports scene.
