It can be recalled that Google's Image recognition software that automatically categorize pictures for easier search tagged pictures of black people as gorrilas on Sunday.

This mistake was discovered by Jacky Alcine, a Web developer who is black. Jacky took to Twitter to report that Google's Photo app, released in May, labeled a picture of him and a friend as "gorillas.'

The company's chief architect of Google+ Yontan Zunger responded swiftly to Alciné on Twitter:

"This is 100% Not OK." and promised to fix the error.

The fix didn't work as they expected so they disabled the feature for the meantime.

In a statement released by Google's spokeswoman Katie Watson. The company apologized for the mistake and promised to work more on the app to avoid future recurrence.

"We're appalled and genuinely sorry that this happened. We are taking immediate action to prevent this type of result from appearing. There is still clearly a lot of work to do with automatic image labeling, and we're looking at how we can prevent these types of mistakes from happening in the future.".

Similarly, Yahoo experienced the same thing when they overhauled their Flickr photo app in May. The company added similar features that automatically add tags to photos. The algorithm tagged a photo of a black man as an ape.

it is just an error. if you know how to code then you realise that this sort of issues happens a lot. in this case, l am sure the error was built into the software for picture automatic detection and naming. trust me. it is not an easy thing to do.
