Natural resources (which is directly related to size of their landmass) and more importantly population.
They have none of these two. I stand to be corrected, but they majorly depend on tourism - just like Egypt. But Egypt get a huge amount of aid from US and same goes for Israel (US 51st state). The amount of aid Israel get from US is more than what the whole of Africa gets.

Unfortunately, Eurozone members are not as rich and generous as the US. While the Germans may not mind paying more taxes to bailout fellow Germans, French may not mind same for bailing out fellow French, they grumble in silence paying more to bailout Greece and Portugal etc. And that may also have been a factor that led to BREXIT.

Philosophies and others that they gave the world in those era are good, but not much can be achieved practically without natural and human resource to apply the philosophies to

I concur with majority of the points above but I disagree with that of natural resources . Nigeria and so many Africa countries are blessed with numbers of natural resources, I stand to be corrected I doubt if there is any African countries apart from SA and maybe Egypt possesses what Greece has
