During the first republic, the NPC led by Abubakar Tafawa Belewa dominated Northern Region with NPC while in Eastern Region and Mid Western Region dominated by NCNC led by Zik while Awolowo was confined in his obscured Western Region with his bunch of AG ragtags fighting Kiriji war.

NPC and NCNC merged for a coalition government that gave rise to Belewa and Zik as Prime Minister and President respectively.

During the second republic, Shagari and Ekwueme under NPN vied for presidency and vice respectively. NPN won the election having majority votes in North and old Eastern region to emerged victorious while Awolowo who dominated Western Region spent the entire era in tribunal and law court crying over the election, Ajasin and Omoboriwo was left again fighting second Kiriji War in Old Ondo State.

Abiola under SDP won most part of old Eastern region, Bendel State old MidWestern Region and old Western Region as well as Lagos, what happened he was quoted as saying that he can be president of Nigeria without the votes of Igbos.
What happened actually majority of Igbos voted him against Bashiru Tofa but he never lived to be the president, the rest is history.

In 1999, the then presidential candidate Olusengun Obasajo failed to get vote from yorubaland the place of Origin but he got elected under PDP against Yoloba candidate in AD Olu Falae, SW votes was rendered irrelevant once again.

In 2011, Jonathan became president under PDP, though he got few votes from some SW state which that of Ebonyi State alone dwarfted with high margin.

In 2015, Buhari under APC won presidential election defeating the incumbent PDP Jonathan.
Buhari's victory was secured in North East, North West and some parts of North Central while SW was taking the glory of enthroning Buhari they were reminded that they gave Buhari less than 500K votes and there were demanding too much in the run sharing of National offices.

Jonathan lost the election with margin of little above 2million votes which Buhari got from his zones in North not SW.
Buhari would have been the president with or without SW votes, this is fact when you minus 500K from over 2M votes.

In the build up to sharing of NASS top offices, its glaring how all the candidates supported by SW politicians failed woefully but those supported by SE and SS always emerge victorious.

Read, ponder before commenting, SW vote is as useless as the "P" in Psychology and its contribution to national politics has always been cosmetic.
- Fact.

Advice to those that nuture the dream of becoming Nigeria president if the Zoo still stays beyond this dispensation, grab SE and SS votes, move to North and do the needful, SW votes will always garnish the victory like a piece of Onion on a heap of Kebab.

If you tribalize this tread you will die in the Niger.

Lol. Buddamonk, why not come out with your real moniker? Lol

I bet you that GEJ, if he could turn back the hands of time, would do anything to get the 2.4 mill votes Buhari got from the SW to hand Buhari the Presidency. We got him the presidential ticket. (ask Amaechi), hand-picked his vice, gave him the largest votes in the South of naija -- despite low voter turnout in the region.

Where did you lot get Jonathan? You made him the first incumbent to lose reelection. And you have the effrontery to come here and talk shyt? ?

Are you minding the e-goat? GEJ knows better now who he should've partnered with to secure his second term. At least we delivered the presidency to Buhari as agreed. They lost the reelection for Jonathan.

Are you minding him (coz o know the guy behind the moniker). In spite of low voter turnout in the region we still delivered five out of six states to Buhari.

Lol. Na jealousy go kill them. Nigeria has NEVER unanimously voted for/elected one single igboman as president of this country via the ballot box, that is their real grouse. Even the ijaws have outdone them in that department grin cheesy. They also suck as kingmakers.

At times I just laugh with the way some people reasons. You can't stop hating Yoruba, and again you cannot do without house. Maybe you should ask your GEJ as I am very sure he knows how important we are. The last time Oba Akinolu threatening to deal with you people for voting against his choice, you people were everywhere begging and crying. Your Big boys made their money in Yoruba land yet some children like you still come to this faceless forum to vomit rubbish. Get this into your brain, We Yoruba will remain the leading tribe in every good thing in Nigeria. If you are angry about that fact, locate a transformer in your area and do the needful.

Op guess u don't understand the voting system with Buhari winning in the North. If he didn't produce at least 25% from the states in SW so u think he's going to be sworn in. He didn't win in the SE or SS thanks to SW who gave him the mantle. So don't mumu ur self numbers don't count. The 25% counted more and u have to provide 25% in at least 20 states I think. So how do the north wants to provide that assuming Gej provide the number of percentage and Buhari doesn't my guy na Gej for win am.

I have already said it that their problem is that they are sorry ass/unreliable failures as kingmakers (GEJ realized too late that they can't be relied upon to deliver his reelection that's why he tried desperately to court the Yorubas at the late stages but it was too late), and secondly no single igboman has ever been unanimously voted by Nigerians as president in the history of this country. Na their real problem be DAT.

Its not the number of votes, its the packaging, just a year ago would you have ever imagined that Buhari would ever emerge as the president of Nigeria one day?
But enter the SW and its media, Buhari, yes that same Buhari the ethnic bigot and the religious jingoist was repackaged as CHANGE and just like magic he won the election.

Its not by numbers my dear, it is by sophistication.

You are the biggest clown in the history of big clowns! In the 1979 elections Awo lost to Shagari via a mere 600k votes (he received 4.9m votes as against Shagari's 5.6m, while zik got a paltry 2.9m -- based on that who is irrelevant of the 3? ? ) That election was the closest on record. The North edged us via several factors but yorubas still put up a good show. But where Awo failed OBJ succeded, aand twice by the ballot box! Shonekan sef don reach dia as a civilian.

Now how many igbos ever came close to smelling the presidency via the ballot box in Nigeria's history? ? Thunder fire you are your ilk. Anuofia!!

North gave Buhari victory and mass apathy from the East, SW vote was infinitesimal in the race.
