victorD3:because nuclear plants are built on water to cool it down. And more over akwa ibom look like to love development more than delta rivers and bayelsa. If you put a nuclear plant in river or delta militants will go and vandalize it hoping to find oil in it. My opinion sha. |

Personally, I would recommend some where around the Northern boarder. Lesser population, easier damage control, and lower risk impact on the environment. The desert/arid regions is well suited for such risky enterprise. JUST PERFECT If you like situate 500 nuclear power plants in the north nobody will cry marginalization. Marginalization ia\s when you situate a refinery or a gas power plant in the desert and channel pipelines thousand of kilometers to it. At least the power plant has nothing to do with the resource of the SS geo-political zone. and hey Biafrans please don't assume that the SS geo-political zone is interested in your Biafra even if we also want to free ourselves from the blood sucking demons called Northern Nigeria we are not interested in staying in the same country with the SE. Six geo-political zones, six countries. 1 Like |

Imagine what would happen should those pipeline vandals happen to think there might be good treasures in the plant. I fear for the consequences that become possible if this proposal is welcome in a show of desperation. |

If Buhari truly means well for Akwa Ibom, he should use that $10 billion dollars which one nuclear station in Akwa Ibom should cost to develop 20 ($500 million dollars) gas power plants around the state to guarantee steady power supply in the zone. Afterall, Akwa Ibom state has enough gas to last the next 300 years. But does not have a grain of uranium for nuclear power stations. Which God in his wisdom did not want any cancer causing radioactive materials in the densely populated Akwa Ibom state. 4 Likes |

They are all ignorance, idiot old men, The Russia will build it and work there for life and likewise provide arm security with S500 in case of attack from Israel. we don't have professional laborers in this country to successfully operate any difficult plant, so therefor we are not going to wait, sidon doing nothing just because the old men don't want to die of nuclear accident. |

Speaking on their behalf, Senator Anietie Okon noted that for the past 40 years, the Federal Government had not sited any industry in the state, stressing that if the government had intended to do so now, it should not be a nuclear power plant with extreme disaster potentials. is the state up to forty (40) years? akwa ibom was created in 1987 and as such not up to even thirty years.... pls put ur facts rights!!!! back to the matter... is this another northern agenda to annahilate the south and blame it on nuclear accident? sokoto, yobe and bauchi with large unused landmass should be used for this suicidal exploits not nucleated states of the south!!!!! oya lets the insults begin!!!!!!!!!! |

Illiterates! Nigeria is a small country, if a Nuclear Disaster happened in one part of the country, it’ll affect 3/4 of the country. |
