Point of correction, it's not Lt Col Victor Banjo, it was Lt Col Adekunle Fajuyi. They were siezed in 2nd battalion(now 2nd division), and killed in a Bush along monatan in Oyo State.

And yeah, every account of the story I've heard or read confirms nzeogwu was infact a sort of protege of Sardauna , but yet didn't hesitate to put him down, that definitely teaches you something about the IgBOS. I know he wasn't involved, but how long did it take mamaan vasta and co to face firing squad? given the fact that no igbo man was murdered in the coup carried out mainly by igbo officers which benefited igbo men (zik wasn't killed, nwafor orizu wasn't killed while Ironsi became head of state), it was important for him to make example of them but his perceived reluctance in prosecuting them amounts to supporting their cause.

Don't talk like that. In civilised countries, if a person kills another person, be it in a military coup or not, be it 50 years ago or yesterday, even in self defence, there will be some sort of judicial enquiry into what happened. Even now in The Hague, second world war criminals are still answering for there crimes 70 years after that war ended. So don't try to cover the fact that because your country is backward, crimes should be forgotten.

Ironsi was protecting the criminals (5 majors) who carried out the first coup. They killed statement from the north and west, and ironsi provided them a safe haven whereas they shd have been prosecuted and convicted. clear obstruction of justice
