Efcc that couldn't prosecute ibori, Efcc that couldn't get a good judgement against Lucky igbinedion, Efcc that presented a flawed case in which Maina who stole over 30 billion was asked to pay 750 000, Efcc that couldn't send Fani kayode to Jail, Efcc that made Aturu a free man after stealing billions and so many failed cases.

I support Buhari if he abadons EFCC and ICPC but should put a good machinery in place to recover those monies else people like Diezani will go scot free with all her loots.

Buhari needs to strengthen the anti graft agencies and judiciary.

He can do all the investigation with the help of aliens and foreigners, the whole thing will still pass through the incompetent Nigerian courts. the Half baked lawyers hiding under the word "seasoned" lawyers won't even be able to prepare a case that will nail these corrupt officials enough to stick.

Maybe he thinks it's still the military era.

I have seen clear cut cases dragged on till thy Kingdom come in Nigerian courts, adjournment upon adjournment... The shlt might drag on till Mr. President leaves the office cos it's gonna shlt storm of legal battle.

In as much as we want corruption to be fought, he has to follow rule of law. These agencies are there for such fights and Nigerian people gave them the mandate. If he is not gonna use them he should kindly dissolve them. That's another way of saving taxpayers money.

These idea of folks saying the graft agencies are filled with PDP sympathizer is bullshit... Some of APC bigwigs were former PDP, it doesn't matter now... Buhari will still have to work with Nigerians cos if he starts off working alone keeping Nigerians off the loop for long like not using the Efcc and ICPC, not working with minister-no FEC, appointing only his relatives and Notherners, isn't that what having zero regards for rule of law looks like?

And till now nobody has gone to jail still baffles me. Is it even difficult to atleast Catch one looter?

Nigeria is facing her worst security challenge in modern times but all the most useless & confused president of our time could do is going about an unnecessary political vendetta.Hundreds of innocent Nigerians have just lost their lives yet this government is either helpless or tacitly supporting this carnage.Their preoccupation is who gets what in the NASS.The president is now global-trotting taking selfies with the "presidential cows"even coming to limelight. How really did we arrived @ this state?

Let me add that that "order" will not just be obeyed because it has been made, proof of (successful) prosecution of the owners of that wealth by the lawfully constituted enforcement agency (EFCC,ICPC and SFU-POLICE) before the order will be considered officially not to talk of compliance any thing other than that is a bust.
While that is on, the associates /agents of the asset owners can and will legally challenge the order which has very little chance of passing legal scrutiny if the agents can show that due and fair processes were not followed by the country making the order.
Conclusion snail baba can engage all the slimy consultants he wants( a throw back to the PTF days ), even if they locate said assets/funds , they can not touch them not to talk of retrieving them.
Come to think of it do you know how near impossible it is to do that here in Nigeria, to speak less of other lands.....

From the onset i have always said that if buhari was the only man who can save nigeria , as he has been advertised and sold to the gullible by the apc then i'd rather Nigeria is destroyed today because then Nigeria is already finished.

shebi he has already bailed out corrupt Governors who looted money they should have used to pay salaries

It seems funny that APC states were most hard hit by salary issues. It makes you wonder whether they used the money to fund Buhari election and Buhari is paying back through this bailout!

The ease with which Buhari agreed to bail out the states is quite curious and dodgy

so much for anti-corruption

But you didn't question what causes drop in federal allocation since last year in which Jonathan administration tailed it to drop in price of crude oil. Whereas, many billion dollars is leaked and he overlooked it. "stealing is not corruption"

I've never seen a president with utter disregard for constituted authority. I guess this is the reason why pple prefer to hand over power to their cronies and party members. I guess he would be setting up a team of Muslim consultants to retrieve the loot.

This is a complete useless news report. It pains me the way some people stay in the comfort of their rooms and write this kind of unintelligent report for publication as news item thinking that everybody will believe it. How can the President recover looted funds without prosecuting the offenders and how can he prosecute the looters without the constitutionally empowered institutions like the police, Efcc, ICPC doing the investigations and intelligence work? Which law empowers the president to by pass these institutions and replace them with consultants who will be heavily paid for their work when we are talking of cutting cost in governance? I want to believe that the present government will stick to the principles of the Rule of law and constitutionalism in pursuing their set objectives. People should bear in mind we are running a democratic government and not a despotic military government. I consider this report a mere propaganda meant to hoodwink and fool those too lazy to think for themselves.

Haters should go and die of blood pressure generated from their so much hatred.

This is what Buhari has decided to do : instead of going through the normal route which has been failing; that is arrest these people, bring up charges against them, while they now hire a dozen of SANS with their loot and the case remains in court for two years with the SANS devising all sorts of legal stunts and exploring loopholes to frustrate the government.

If he takes the normal route, how many loots will he be able to recover, with all sorts of traitors and PDP Sympathisers abounding in EFFC/ICPC that will be feeding the looters info.

So instead of wasting time and resources, Baba is going for the kill; he is going for their loot. They locate your loot, repatriate with or without your support or consent. Anyone that wants to make trouble will be asked to tell the nation how exactly he made such amounts of millions of dollars.

It's the best way, locate the loot, and then, let the owner of the loot come and explain how he made the money. Inability to demonstrate this means the money belongs to Nigeria.
one of the few sensible posts. i have given up on nigerians from reading comments on NL. a nation of dullards who are projecting their dullardness to the president. imagine these cretins calling an intelligent man like buhari a dullard ?

PMB could not have met empty treasury and still able to rescue State Government from the Excess Crude oil Account in order to pay salaries.

Any move whatsoever employed by PMB to recover loots will be commended.

First: The ECA is NOT part of the state treasury cos it isn't captured in the budgeting.
Second: The monies given out to Governors as soft loans is NOT from the ECA.
Third: Stop saying it was from the ECA, we all know the NLNG had been stealing the country silly and laughing away cos all the focus was on petrol dollars.

Buhari doesn't work with agencies not headed by a northerner.

It gets worse if the agency is headed by a south-southerner. So Ekpo Nta should forget it or get ready to be relieved. undecided

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, Nigeria’s former minister of finance said on Tuesday night that the $2 billion she was alleged to have withdrawn from Excess Crude Account without authorisation was used to pay for fuel subsidy on the instruction of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
She however said the issue was discussed at the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC), a statutory body which is chaired by the Minister of State for Finance in which all the states are represented.
The former Minister however said FAAC did not approve the withdrawal.
It will be recalled that Nigerian state governors had after the inauguration of the National Economic Council about two weeks ago accused Okonjo-Iweala of spending $2 billion from the ECA, a pool of funds which belonged to the three tiers of government.
Adams Oshiomole, the governor of Edo state told journalists that there has been a depletion in the funds from $4.1 billion as at November 2014 to $2.1 billion, even when there was no authorisation for any withdrawal from the funds known to state chief executives.
The governors had subsequently set up a committee made up of four of their members to investigate the withdrawals.
“Payments made were used for paying for petroleum subsidies for the Nigerian people and were approved by Mr President,” Iweala said in a statement issued by Paul Nwaibuikwu, her media assistant.
“Therefore there is no question of mismanaging any resources here,” she added
Okonjo-Iweala also said FAAC did not approve such expenditures, but “that all these expenditures were discussed at FAAC meetings attended by Finance Commissioners from the 36 states.”
