Victoria Ayuwei, Per Second News---

President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected
the resignation letter of the National Security
Adviser Col. Sabo Dasuki, on the grounds that
he has to account for funds received under
his tenure running into billions of dollars.
Per Second News exclusively gathered that the
NSA’s plan to throw in the towel about a week
ago met a brick wall as he was instructed to
do a thorough financial house keeping.
According to a credible source in the know,
President Buhari sternly told him that the
resignation letter was ‘unacceptable’ .
Per Second News learnt that the NSA had
written a resignation to the President recently
requesting to voluntarily step down as the
country's national security adviser.
The credible Presidency source revealed that
President Buhari's refusal to accept the
resignation was prompted by investigation
showing that huge sums of money are being
unaccounted for due to improper filing of
contracts papers under Sabo.
The unaccounted funds poses a “significant
financial risk and demonstrates a lack of
internal control over the NSA’s contract
actions, according to the source.
“more than $50 billion in which contract files
were incomplete or could not be located at
all,” according to a petition alert.
Investigations by Per Second News reveal
that billions of dollars were funneled into a
secret account known only to the NSA, Jonah
Otunla, a former accountant general of the
federation and the Director of Finance, DFA in
the Special Services Office.
It was gathered that the trio were the only
ones with access to the account through
which several transactions and deals were
done without passing through the normal
channel and due process.
According to a source the outgone accountant
general of the federation was lured with
N500m to create that account unknown to the
establishment through which they circulate
the funds.
“This is part of the mess Sabo has been
instructed to clear before his resignation can
be accepted by the President, the source
said”.
“He has been given back the letter. Col. Sabo
Dasuki is still the NSA and if indeed he is
serious about resigning, then let him write
another fresh letter after a proper financial
accountability has been been submitted, said
a Presidency source.
Sabo has come under increasing pressure over
his leadership. Per Second News reliably
gathered that the Presidency has received
some petitions of alleged impropriety, warning
that there was "something rotten" in the
NSA’s office.
Findings by Per Second News also echoed
critics' concerns about spendings, and alleged
lack of transparency and why billions of Naira
were kept in the secret account.
The Presidency is also concerned about some
deals coming out of the NSA’s office,
especially the issue of $9.3m South African
arms deal, and repeated reports that Nigeria
was conned into a failed Boko Haram
“ceasefire” deal to the tune of almost $500m

A very foolish useless news as usual. Infact if true there is allegations of corruption, dasuki is right to resign for proper Investigation be carried out. Apc and there usual way, lies all the time, buhari has come under harsh criticism recently for lopsided appointment and he's trying to avoid another one. But we all know that such a sensitive office will go to the north again, so the earlier the better. Had he rejected DSS DG resignation, then I would have believed this one!

Resigning does not mean he wants to run or he can't be held accountable if found guilty. In fact how do you expect him to be on that seat and a thorough job of probing him will be done? The normal thing is that he steps down so he is not around to block or cut any corners.

Some ppl r just naive about hw govt runs & also lack understanding, the president dt rejected NSA's resignation must have some facts and figures. All Buhari just needs from Dasuki is his ability to reconcile that acct while in d office. I bet u he will never get d acct reconciled and he cannot perfect anything because he knows Buharis has facts. And he will see for himself that he is not witch-hunted as u ppl may eventually say. And for himself he will know he is guilty. This is d wisdom d president is applying. Experience is d only teacher. Yoruba say "Bomode ba laso bi agba, ko le lakisa bi agba".
