Court Ruling: Police Seal Up 22 Rivers LG Secretariat On Orders From IG by CharlesPhc: 4:58pm On Jul 10, 2015
Following the Court Ruling against the 22 Rivers LG Chairmen yesterday by Justice Akanbi of the Federal High Court, fierce-looking Men of the NPF has sealed up all the Headquarters of the 22 Local Government Secretariat on special Orders from the IG this morning thereby preventing the inauguration of members of the Caretaker Committee appointed by Governor Ezenwo Wike from gaining access into the premises.

Is this the 'Change' the APC Government promised...!!! Flagrant disobedience to Court Ruling is an invitation to Anarchy

We do not operate like the United States of America, where each State has sovereign powers to dictate what happens in their Counties(LGA), fortunately this is Nigeria, and the Federal Government has the power to check mate a Governor running around crazy, especially this Patience Jonathan's Lap Dog.

The IG should make Sure those Local Government are not opened for those thugs! Wike cannot be allowed to get away with illegality:

First, the constitution doesn't recognize the position of a Caretaker at the Local Government level being the third tier of government

Second, there was already a judgment by the the Industrial Court of Justice barring Wike from Dissolving the Local Govt Chairmen!

It's time Buhari used Wike as a Scapegoat!

Nonsense!

http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/06/industrial-court-restrains-wike-others-from-sacking-council-chairmen/

Written by Oby Ndukwe  GOV. WIKE KNOWS THE TRUE COLOUR OF ABUJA POWER

He is calling on the Nigerian public and the international community to come to his aid.The same man who used ALL the powers that be in Abuja to harass, intimidate and chase after his former boss, Rotimi Amaechi is now at his wits end.

Wike is complaining of the action of the police to seal and barricade the council secretariats in Rivers state in the face of the crisis that engulfed the 22 Councils after a controversial court order by Justice Lambo Akanbi sacking elected Chairmen.

The one who played god is now crying for justice. Those who clapped and danced when he executed truth and rule of law, used the infamous CP Joseph Mbu to disperse 13000 teachers who gathered to receive their employment letters, aided the renegade 5 lawmakers to attempt the impeachment of the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, barricaded and sealed the State Assembly for one legislative year.

Mbu and his men under an IGP blocked the access road to the Government House and prevented Amaechi and his visitors from using the road.

It was the same Wike as a junior Minister who was supervised by the First Lady ordered his GDI youths to stone governors who visited the state in solidarity with Amaechi for the humiliation he suffered under the watchful eyes of Jonathan.

Wike used the police and the army to forcefully break into the newly constructed stadium just to prove his powers.
To his admirers and supporters, he has become their idea of God, who gets anything he wants, who speaks a thing and it shall come to pass! He is unstoppable like an uncontrollable locomotive who crushes anyone opposed to him.
Wike has threatened and boasted that even if Ban ki moon, UN Secretary General is called to conduct elections, he would win. He took his battle to the doorstep of President Buhari when he boasted that if he dissolved the councils controlled by APC, Buhari will support him. He has carried on with a NEW vision with an OLD outlook. His braggado style remains the same.
Within 5 hours of a controversial judgment ostensibly masterminded by him as his supporters claim that his name is synonymous with the judiciary, he drew up Caretaker lists for 22 LGAs, got his wike made Assembly to screen and approve all of them for appointment. He came back in the night to swear them in.
But in a twist of fate, before morning, the Police had taken over the highly tensed councils. Another sheriff is in charge. Not Joseph Mbu any more! Not IGP Mohammed Abubakar again. President Jonathan and his wife are far away from Aso Rock. President Buhari is in charge.
Wike is asking on radio and television if this is the CHANGE?
But he must first explain if this is the NEW vision for Rivers people?
The PRESENT cannot be without discussing the PAST.
Who fired the first shot?

Shut up! There was another judgment barring Wike from dissolving the Local Government Chairmen.

Again, where did Wike derive the power to appoint Caretaker Chairmen for another tier of Government?

Shut up! There was another judgment barring Wike from dissolving the Local Government Chairmen.

[b]Before the May 23rd LG Election in Rivers State, there was a Court Order barring the former Rivers State Governor and RSIEC from going ahead with the election. Amaechi ordered the RSIEC Chairman to disobey the Court Order and the election was conducted.

The Learned Justice Akanbi only maintained that since there was a subsisting Court Order (Pre-Election matter) before the election was conducted, anything done after that order was a nonentity, null and void period. That purported election was therefore declared null and void and the purported winners of that election ordered to vacate their offices as they were occupying it illegally. Mind you, this was a pre-election case.

The Court Order from the Industrial Court was a post election case against the Current RS Governor and RSHA Members (not against the Federal High Court) not to dissolve the Council Chairmen pending the determination of cases already pending. Governor Wike and the RSHA did not disobey that ruling. The Federal High Court is not bound by the Industrial Court Order Sir.

Secondly, in law it has been established that you can not put something in nothing, you can order someone not to cut off the branch from a tree but when the tree is uprooted from its root and removed completely, the order not to cut the branch seizes to be becos there is nothing there anymore. You can not cut a branch of a tree that does not exist. The LG election was an illegal structure which Justice Akanbi pulled away from its root. The RS Governor was left with no option than to fill the vacuum to aviod lacuna simple.

Sorry, but does the industrial court of justice have the jurisdiction to hear and determine such a suit? From the little I know about law,I doubt if that court has the jurisdiction to hear such a suit. Maybe the lawyers in the house can shed more light on that.

This strange impunity of not obeying a court order is capable of causing violent in the state, Amaechi if Omeaya did not obey court order in oct 2007 what would have been the consequent of that ?

He (Wike)should have approached the court for vacation of that order but he abandoned it midway and went to get a malleable judge from the Federal high court to do his bidding!

The illegality should not be allowed to stand.

PDP's reaction.
"It was curious that the police allowed the dissolution of local government councils and appointment of caretaker committees in APC-controlled Plateau and Kaduna States, even when they were without the orders of the court but elected to clamp down on that of Rivers State, which came as a result of judicial pronouncement," Metuh said.

No, the sacked LG Chairmen should have gone to Court to seek for a Stay-of-Execution of the Federal High Court Ruling or file an Appeal immediately. They didn't see this coming right?
