Ikorodu Robbery Arrest: Is The Nigeria Police Finally Acting At Last? by luciomoggi(m): 5:10pm On Jul 13, 2015
The Nigeria Police Officer are often classified as the "Worst Professionals" in the country. It is a known knowledge that even a new born baby derides them as an epitome of corruption. This has gone on and on for generations and it is something which no Inspector General of Police has been able to shake off. To trace the history and reasons would be time and space consuming rather the solution to this problem is what Nigerians should dwell on.

The police on their part always come up with flimpsy excuses of inadequate welfare packagies or inadequate security equipments and trainning but this is nothing but self inflicted . The police isn't the lowest earning workers in Nigeria as most primary and nursery school teachers are also poorly paid yet these people don't resort to corruption like the police.

It is also hypocritical to only condemn the police when they do wrong or engage in extra judicial killing without giving them praises where they deserve. This is where the arrest of the Ikorodu robbers on 24 June 2015 comes in . Yes it is the duty of the police to maintain law and order and reduce crime but also arresting these criminals almost immediately is a welcome address. This will not only benefit the Zenith Bank that was robbed but turn out to a multiply of positive externalities to the society because it will discourage more aspiring criminals from going on with the ungodly profession and hence reduce crime. One would thank the outgoing Lagos State Commissioner of Police Mr Kayode Aderanti for a job well done. If such things continue it will only lead to more success stories in crime reduction and a more peaceful society. Army arrested and handed over to the police. Now tell me how you claim it was the police. There is a police post where the crime was committed and nothing was done only for the army to arrest them in another state after some days and contacted the police. Now op, tell me who is to take the credit, the army or the police?
