President Muhammadu Buhari is set to visit Washington D.C. for his meeting with President Barack Obama on Monday with a 32-man delegation comprising governors, ex-governors, State House officials and businessmen.

According to sources in the presidency, those expected to join him on the trip include Governors Kashim Shettima (Borno), Rochas Okorocha (Imo), Adams Oshiomhole (Edo), Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa) and Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo).

The rather large delegation will also have former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi; Buhari’s running mate in the 2011 presidential election, Pastor Tunde Bakare; former President of the Newspapers Proprietors' Association of Nigeria (NPAN) and publisher of The Democrat, Ismaila Isa Funtua; a former Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazzau; and Halilu Sheni, a businessman.

Others in the delegation will include officials in the presidency and some heads of government parastatals.

.In comparison with past presidents of Nigeria, 32 man delegation is obviously modest.

Imagine CNN on TV showing pictures/Boko Haram pillaging Northern Nigeria while Buhari is discussing with Obama...

The shame... The belittling...

I'm waiting for his media crew to update us with him and his entourage. Well, isn't that the only thing they do?

Oops! They also counter each other's statements/press release.smiley

o).

The rather large delegation
What is rather large in a 32 man official delegation to the U.S.
For those suffering from stupid, childish and senseless opposition politics,an invitation to have a one on one discussion with the president of the U.S is an opportunity treasured by ALL meaningful world leaders and a rare chance to seek much needed assistance in critical areas of the visiting nation.
What a three day official visit can achieve cannot be overemphasized because even a 12hr official visit to the US has been known to achieve breakthroughs not achieved in years of just normal diplomatic parley.
I expected a 40-42 man delegation considering that the areas to be discussed involves the military/security;the economy and corruption and therefore expected the new service chiefs or at least 2 of them with the NSA,the head of the SSS,members of the economic think tank,bank/financial chiefs and intended new heads of the anticorruption agencies to tag along with the president.
32 man delegation is a very modest one to me.

Guess he will not prove to them how Nigerian we are. You know we're the most populous black nation and it must reflect in the president's entourage. That is why we'll miss's the shoeless Jo.
