The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Wednesday, July 15, condemned Boko Haram insurgency, saying, however, when it will finally end in Nigeria.
According to The Punch, the church spokesperson, Pastor Segun Adegbiji, expressed concern over the church members safety adding that its authorities were therefore improving security measures around the parishes. While responding to the journalists’ questions in Ogun state regarding the recent killing of the 6 members of the church by a suicide bomber in Potiskum, the clergyman said that the terrorists have crossed all the boundaries. He insisted, however, that insurgency would be defeated until the end of this year.
“We are passionate about the safety of our members and indeed the safety of citizens of this country. We prayed against Ebola, that it should get out of this country and whether you believe it or not, God answered our prayers and it left. Boko Haram is a monster and it will be defeated this year. “We are working on the security of our churches. If those people should attempt to do that next time, they will be in serious trouble.” Vanguard quoted the cleric as saying further: “We pray for those in power as the Bible has enjoined us to do. That is our stand but we believe that by the end of this year, Nigerians will have cause to say that all is well.” The RCCG also strongly criticized same sex marriages: “There is nowhere in the Bible where God said people of the same sex can get married. The stand of the church is very clear and it states; one man, one wife.”
