Some former Service Chiefs will be investigated over the alleged misplacement of President Muhammadu Buhari’s Secondary School Certificate from military records, according to reports.

Sources quoted in online reports suggest that some of the service chiefs, who were among the top military officers recently retired, will be investigated over the row certificate saga which threatened president Buhari's political ambition before the 2015 Presidential polls. A military source quoted in the reports said some retired military officers are behind the push for the probe.

Security reports quoted indicate that some of the Service Chiefs to be investigated were 'reckless' while in office. "Some respected but retired military officers are demanding a probe of the circumstances behind the certificate saga because it created a division in the military," the source said.

"The former service chiefs are also going to be probed for allegedly mismanaging of funds for operations."

He said the argument is that Buhari's 'missing' credential case is an anomaly since the "credentials of every military officer are always in their files." "There is a fresh lead that the President’s file might have suffered some mutilation or misplacement." The source added that it is believed that political factors might have been the cause of the certificates' disappearance from Buhari's file

"While some claimed that the certificate had been misplaced since the 1980s, others alleged mutilation as a result of some political factors." It will be recalled that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and several pro-PDP groups had used the missing certificate issue against Buhari's candidacy. - See more at: http://www.exlinklodge.com/2015/07/ex-army-chiefs-to-be-investigated-over.html#sthash.uXFBTu5d.dpuf
