Saudi Arabia is an eyesore to all sane minds!

How can humans accept this kind of oppression in the guise of religion? Why can't sane-minded Muslims confront the tyranny of the criminal House of Saud? These vagabonds still behead people (largely foreigners) in public and adhere to some of the most barbaric laws known to man. Women, as always, bear the brunt of these senseless laws.

There is absolutely no excuse for a 75-year old woman to be treated in this manner. Any interpretation of the Qur'an that supports this, is criminal and must be condemned without reservation!

Aren't there Muslims in Algeria and Turkey? Why don't we hear about these kinds of monstrosities so common in Saudi Arabia? Are the Muslims in America, the UK, Turkey, Jordan and Tunisia lesser because they don't live by this foolishness? Rubbish!

Khamisa Sawadi, a Syrian who was married to a Saudi, was convicted and sentenced last week for meeting men who were not her immediate relatives. The two men, including one who was Sawadi’s late husband’s nephew, were also found guilty and sentenced to prison and lashes.

The woman’s lawyer, Abdul Rahman Al-Lahem, said he plans to appeal the verdict, which also demands Sawadi be deported after serving her prison term. He said his client has not served her sentence yet.

They use Islam to subdue and oppress the people, to keep them in check; as if Islam will not exist without them. It is this psychological stranglehold that makes some Muslims accept anything from Saudi Arabia. And when you now add the fact that the two holiest sites in Islam are in Saudi Arabia, don't be surprised that many Muslims believe that Allah only understands Arabic. So, Muslims who don't understand Arabic are not Muslims? Do you recall when God only understood Latin?

I hate it when Muslims are faced with facts and they say Saudi is not this or that. Or Saudi is not practicing Islam rightly. How about beating your wife that's in the Quran. It's written right there that you can flog your wife.

It's not just in Saudi.

Well, I think legal systems must evolve to stay relevant. The common law has evolved over the years and so has the civil law. The Islamic legal system must, will and has evolved. This evolution is sometimes based on interpretation or deliberate modifications, and is also geographically/culturally biased. The problem is that some do not want change because it will decrease their ability to use the law to promote parochial agendas. Today, even Saudis are complaining about the application of these stone-age laws. Watch what will happen tomorrow, people with get tired and push back! And there is no guarantee that the current systems will survive the push back. History is replete with examples!

You're right that women and children usually bear the brunt of the most barbaric laws in the world. The "weak" appear to bee the most vulnerable. When will Saudi Arabia behead a Saudi prince for stealing money? Or is it only migrant workers from Pakistan who still tachere money that deserve to be beheaded in the public square? Imbeciles!

People must resist oppression, no matter who the oppressors are!

I was trying to point out that osisi was always looking for ways to knock Northerners or Muslims. Your assertion that she was trying to expose "the sorry state of affairs in Saudi-Arabia is wrong. You only have to view most of her post to conclude she despises people from northern Nigeria and by extension Muslims.
To live in the relative and peaceful western countries while advocating religious war in your homeland I think is evil.

The two holy sites in islam are in a country called Saudi Arabia doesnt mean the Saudi regime is islamic. Holy pilgrimage is a duty on every muslim regardless of who is in control of the polical machinery of Saudi.  You have to look at this issue in perspective and not narrow it down like you said.

I detest the House of Saud and they dont represent Islam. Monarch system is not part of islam and it is also not part of islam that one family would rule a country. The arabic language is the language of the quran and muslims observe their 5 obligatory salah in arabic. Bilal the prophets companion whom he loved so much and use to call the prayer for him was black and not originally arab. He couldnt even pronounce the letter "sh" in arabis well and used to say "S" instead and made the calll to prayer like that.
