Now jokes apart, this is really serious. I’m writing to complain about the absence of a car race track in Nigeria. Just one in the whole country, I’m yet to hear of. Giant of Africa, 150 million people with racing enthusiasts frustrated around the country, endangering road users by manifesting their instincts on inter state roads, cmon, we can do better.
Try to understand my rant though, I am happiest when I’m pushing a motor to its limit, reading its performance characteristics and listening to its note: is it low end torquey but flattening at the top, is it lethargic at take off while screaming at higher revs, or is the curve a steep one that keeps demanding for more keeping you wondering if you will get to the limit quite alive? And I believe I am not alone. There are many enthusiasts that have been frustrated by the lack of race tracks to really stretch their engines in this country, even if just once. Many cars are depressed on our roads, you will hear them complaining if you listen. The other day I saw a white Ferrari making noise on lekki epe expressway, it was in a hold up, I truly felt sorry for the motor, another time it was a Mustang, also in a hold up. I was quite sad to be honest. Those and many motors wasting away in our great country.
So I am using this medium to appeal to well meaning Nigerians who have the wherewithal to do something. I know we can do this. I have seen collectors of sports cars in our country, I know Kola Aluko is a professional race car driver. It’s about time we started, India is already hosting F1 events. We don’t have to build a track from scratch, we can use say an abandoned air strip like top gear does, and have professional track builders and designers assess it. It won’t be just a futile past time, the opportunities are quite much. Users would pay a fee, there would be side attractions: food, games, car shows, car and spare part sales etc. Families could come for a weekend hangout, it would also be a networking ground for the socially inclined, and much more. Please let’s see how we can make this happen, I know we can. It doesn’t have to be Lagos, we could use some sleepy town without so much vehicle traffic.
However, I should not fail to mention that there would be attendant risks as racing is always risky, these would however be minimized by pre emptive measures like realistic speed limits, competence checks on drivers, vehicle condition checks. Offenders could face expulsion or pay heavy fines. Properly trained medics and paramedics would be at events, a working ambulance would be ready, neurosurgeons, orthopedic, and general surgeons should be a safe distance away. Like in Spain, at the bull fights, when the fighters are gored, specialist surgeons are outside the ring, who are experienced in treating gore wounds. I know we can pull this off. So what do you guys think. Comments, contributions, criticisms are welcome.

Good to know that someone else is even more pissed than i am.......
Like i said before,, our elders who said that the future was for us a long time ago are still at the helm of affairs and i still think that such thoughts about race tracks not being present in the country are no where close to the back of their minds.
We have not even started encouraging those who are showing their automotive construction talents, talk more of trying to let the skillful drivers show the world how well we can handle them cars.
Hope to be part of achieving/making the car race sport a reality in Nigeria when the opportunity comes around.
I even love them Dakar races too much

you have started again, I am always available to teach you a lesson both on track and off track with my newly acquired PONTIAC GTO. lol

I can go watch drivers do stunts and races on track in Nigeria but I am actually experienced more in defence driving than any other driving forms. Besides shouldn't racing cars be specially modified not the kazeem modified cars we have on road in naija.

the German autobahn.
German counterpart of Nigerian interstate roads, legal for everyday road users.
records 3x less deaths than U.S roads, even though the abahn has higher average speed limits.

Nurey knows I will beat him first lap and every lap...racing with him will be a bit boring since I will always be the winner.

Cars don't kill people, people kill people. The grave is never satisfied! Wtf? Even the guy in that fast and furious would have known how HELL or HEAVEN is by now; which ever one he finds himself. I have an itchy leg too, but bad prophesy must not come true in ma life. Ha! What are the speeds for if u can't get to the end? Still, a dead man tells no tale.

Has your car been comprehensively insured? If nay, then this is for you:

For many drivers, motor or auto insurance is more a pain than a benefit, with the pain partly being located in the high premiums they have to pay. But hey! There’s some good news; auto insurance protects you from personal liabilities should you be in an accident. What happens if you get hit by someone who doesn’t have insurance? If you do not have insurance either, chances are, that you will be faced with paying your own medical bills. Not cool! If you’re shown to be at fault in an accident, you may be required to pay for the repairs of the car that you hit. Fair enough, right? But not cool either, because this is money coming out from your pocket. Save yourself from uncertainties, from embarrassments, from unplanned expenditures…I bring to the table the good news about insuring your cars, buses, trucks with ENSURE INSURANCE PLC.

Should you really be punished for having your car stolen or damaged?

Why should you be paid less than you insured for when a claim arises?

How quickly would you like to get back on the road after an accident?

How about a premium refund of 15% of 2years cumulative?

How about a 15% discount for all women and exclusively for men at 45 and above?

How about a replacement of your vehicle or the cash equivalent?

That’s not all!

We will not penalize you for Depreciation. You will get paid the full value of your adjusted claim.

Should you get injured in an accident while in your car, we will assist you with the payment of hospital bills up to N500, 000, while the occupants in your car get a sum aggregate of N250, 000.

You need to know that:

We settle claims promptly;

You get 15% cash back on your premiums if you make no claims after 24 months;

Female drivers receive an additional 15% discount.

DON’T JUST INSURE, PLEASE ENSURE!!!

I can be reached at: 070-5282-9300, WhatsApp inclusive.

160km/h Lincoln navigator. That's because it can't go more than that.

140km/h Toyota sienna 2000, though I won't advice any one who has something to lose to try this, the car feels every vibration and road unevenness, it's like license to die at that speed.
