The Mtv Africa Music Awards ( MAMAs) was established in 2008 to celebrate the most popular and successful Contemporary music in Africa.

The 5th edition that took place in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa was graced by both Africa and international artist that storm the place with different colors of grey outfits and raised the roof hell high of 5000 extinguish fans with intriguing performances.

With the aim of championing Africa Music, promoting youth culture an achievements the MAMA indeed brought the continent together for a massive celebration of contemporary music and creativity spiced up with electrifying performance, collaborations and awards presentation.

Many of the winners of the MAMAs Awards includes artists from Nigeria, South Africa, Angola, Tanzania and Ivory Coast.

HERE IS A LIST OF THE WINNERS

Best Male Act : Nigeria's talented singer Davido ( Nigeria ) won the best male act award of the year beating Wizkid ( Nigeria ) , Aka ( South Africa ) , Diamond ( Tanzania ) and Sarkodie ( Ghana ).

Best Female Act : The Johnny finder Yemi Alade ( Nigeria ) defeated Bucie (S/A), Busiswa (S/A), Sheyi Shay ( Nigeria ) and Vanesssa Mdee (Tanzania) to bag the best female act award.

Best Collaboration : South Africa/Nigeria collaborated hit song All eyes on me by AKA, Burna boy, Da les, JR claimed the award after triumphing above Davido featuring Uhuru & DJ Buckz 'The Sound' (Nigeria / SA), Toofan & DJ Arafat 'Apero' (Togo / Ivory Coast), Diamond & Iyanya 'bum bum' (Kenya / Nigeria), and Stanley Enow & Sarkodie 'Njama Njama Cow' (Cameroon/Ghana).

Best Hip Hop : South African 'doc shabalezza'  coroner won the best hip hop award after contesting with K.O. (South Africa), Olamide (Nigeria), Phyno (Nigeria) and Youssoupha (DRC).

Best New Act Transformed by Absolut: Patoranking (Nigeria) clash out Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Anna Joyce (Angola), Duncan (South Africa), and Stonebwoy (Ghana) to be awarded best new act award.

Personality of the Year: Trevor Noah of (South Africa) a stand up comedian and the new daily show host showed his personality by conquering fellow comic comedian Basketmouth (Nigeria), TV personality and reality star Bonang Matheba (South Africa), actor O.C Ukeje (Nigeria) and Manchester City/Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast) - who lost out to Lupita Nyong’o in the same category on the 4th edition of MAMAs.

Video of the Year: “Nafukwa” – Riky Rick; Director: Adriaan Louw eliminated Last year’s Video of the Year winner Clarence Peters (Nigeria) “ Love You Everyday ”, and fellow directors Sesan (“ The Sound ”: Davido Featuring Uhuru & DJ Buckz ), Meji Alabi (“ Crazy”: Seyi Shay Featuring Wizkid) and Ryan Kruger (“ Doors ”: Prime Circle ).

Best Group : The duo Peter and Paul ( P square) of Nigeria triumph as they won the award of best group of the year trashing B4 (Angola), Beatenberg (South Africa), Black Motion (South Africa), and Sauti Sol (Kenya).

Best Live : Tanzania artist Diamond was awarded the best live award among top competitors Big Nuz (South Africa), Flavour (Nigeria), Mi Casa (South Africa) and Toofan (Togo).

Song of the Year : Mavins Record " Dorobucci"  was awarded song of the year among other solid competitors listed below =>>

Best Pop & Alternative : Jeremy Loops of South Africa defeated  Fuse ODG (Ghana), Jimmy Nevis (South Africa), Nneka (Nigeria) and Prime Circle (South Africa) to claim best pop & alternative.

Best Francophone : DJ Arafat of (Ivory Coast) defeated Jovi of (Cameroon), Laurette Le Pearle of (DRC),  Tour 2 Garde of (Ivory Coast) and Toofan of (Togo).

Best Lusophone : Ary of (Angola) clash out B4 of (Angola),  Nelson Freitas of (Cape Verde), NGA of (Angola) and Yuri Da Cunha of (Angola) to bag the award.
