A 17-year-old student has been reported dead after allegedly committing suicide at his residence in Phase 2, Site 1, Kubwa, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The deceased, simply identified as Victor, was said to have drank a poisonous liquid substance suspected to be Sniper, an insecticide, following a rebuke by his mother.
A neighbour who craved anonymity told City News that the deceased, a JS three student, had been notorious for being disobedient and stubborn to his parents.
“The boy was used to flouting the instructions of his parents, and whenever they scolded him, he would walk away angrily and abandon all responsibilities assigned to him,” the source said.
He further revealed that the deceased after a scolding by his parents that fateful day, decided to take his own life.
“He went to the kitchen to get food for himself and was walked out by the mother, who insisted he must be responsible,” the source added.
The deceased, according to the neighbour, went straight to his room and drank the poisonous substance, adding that the mother later met him lying lifeless with foam coming out from his mouth.
City News gathered that the body was later deposited at the Kubwa General hospital morgue after it was certified dead.
