We bring you greetings from the Unity Schools Old Students Association!!! The Federal Government College (FGC) Kano Old Students Association (Lagos State Branch) is set to hold National dialogue on the role of Unity schools in nation building.

The founding fathers of the Unity Schools had a vision of using the institutions as a platform to guide future leaders that can advance the cause of Unity, Peace and Progress in our great country, Nigeria.

There are currently 104 Unity Schools (Including Kings College Lagos and Queens College Yaba, Lagos).

At this crucial juncture in our national life, it is imperative that we the products of the Unity Schools examine the role of our alma maters in nation building, particularly in addressing the need for national cohesion and unity in such a culturally and religiously heterogenous country. We need to address the following questions: What has happened to the vision of the founding fathers of the Unity Schools? Do the Unity Schools still bear relevance in today’s Nigeria? What should be the role of the products of the Unity Schools in nation building?

The FGC Kano Old Students Association (Lagos State Branch) has taken the lead in kick-starting this conversation with the organization of a National Dialogue in conjunction with the National Secretariat of the Unity Schools Old Students’ Association. The event will feature a keynote address by Prof. Chidi Anselm Odinkalu, the Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission and will have Dr. Bukola Saraki, President of the Senate and Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Governor of Lagos State as Special Guests of Honour. There will also be a distinguished cast of Unity Schools’ alumni who will be panelists at the dialogue.

The event is scheduled to hold with details as follows:

Date: Wednesday, July 22, 2015 | Time: 10.00 a.m. | Venue: Nigerian Institute of International Affairs (NIIA), Kofo Abayomi Street, off Ozumba Mbadiwe Road, Victoria Island, Lagos.

We specially invite you to this event as one of our leading lights we are proud to have in our association, and who we believe can enrich the discussions at the dialogue.

We look forward to welcoming you on Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at the NIIA, Victoria Island, Lagos.

PRO UNITATE!
