Instead of Goodfriend arming his army, he stuck millions in oil dollars in his and his friends pockets knowing he was safe and unreachable by Boko Haram. Now, the new president is chasing his #$%$ and millions in stolen money looking for a break. African leaders do not give a damn about their people, they are all out only for themselves, like many politicians worldwide....they are elected based on the lies they tell. Civilians who live in the outer areas of Cameroon and Nigeria don't stand a chance. Nothing is really done to help them defend themselves as their elected politicians have stolen it all.

Let this denial serve as a mother of invention and self-sufficiency in arms and weapons production. Such negative promptings have always inspired countries and even some organisations with vision and pride to develop what even their "superiors" could envy and would want to come closer. But... Well, i want to differ a little. What stops Nigeria from going to another Country for the needed arms if we are serious about tackling the issue of Boko Haram.? France produces arms as well as other European Countries. If the whole of Europe refuses to sell arms to Nigeria, why not go to Eastern Europe? Russia will be willing to sell as much as weapons to us as we need so why not go to them? All must be done to see that this unwanted deaths all over the Nation.

I agree with you. Nigeria has got to look inwards, to address its needs, Look at India today. It is a nuclear power (military power) and a developed (industrialized economy), and very wealthy. Barely, 30 years ago, India was a junior economy to Nigeria.... More

Where is the promise they made to deliver arms once Jonathan leaves office? Oh yes! Nigeria must accept Gay Marriage so as to get arms! Just as they treated Jonathan, Buhari is learning the hard way! No to Gay marriage; No to arms delivery! This shows then that Jonathan was not the real problem!

Underage marriage is illegal in Nigeria. I think the legal age is 17 or 18.

@Michael, Nigeria is a deeply Conservative country. No amount of pressure from the US will change that. I don't like the US meddling in Nigeria internal affairs. Nigeria doesn't meddle in American affairs. If the US are the champions of Gay rights, why are you not putting pressure on Saudi Arabia,... More

Nigeria's new president warned that the U.S. refusal to sell his country strategic weapons is "aiding and abetting" the Islamic extremist group.

Is Obama an Islamist?

Refuses to sell weapons to the Kurds; refuses to sell weapons to Buhari; withheld weapons from Egypt; refused to sell new jets to Israel; Iraq tried to get fighters from America, nope, ended up getting some from Russia. Kurds end up getting some weapons from IraN & Syria.

When we have airstrikes, a few kills, but reports like 20 airstrikes, 10 killed? Woopee do!

Pilots complain, I have enemy in sight, then is told, bills, you can not take out. Reporters report, I was with Iraqi army, ready to fight, but no air support, told to retreat.

As. Gomer Pyle would say, gol....lee!

This is a typical Nigerian response to anything that might be construed as critism to their wonderful country: blame someone else. The fact that Nigeria is one of the most corrupt countries on earth has nothing to do with the fact that their army is so badly supplied, motivated, and lacks the will... More

Nigeria should look to the east for salvation before it is too late if its citizens are going to be saved from ruthless killing by idiots. Forget the Amnesty International and its pupetted home-grown human rights advocates who are out for cheap popularity and not for the salvation of the Nigerian... More

I look at it this way if the west and/or the U S won't sell strategic weapons to help kill Islamic extremist, is probably do to the fact that Obama is a muslim himself. Yes, I would say indirectly he (Obama) is aiding and abetting. Nigeria needs to start buying weapons from China and/or Russia... More

Buhari is the former military strongman who took over Nigeria in a military coup circa December 1983 . It is impossible to believe he doesn't have contacts in various other countries for a source of weaponry . This is simply another cry me a river blame game to manipulate America into helping him do what he should have the courage to do on his own . He wants free weapons - foreign aid and American "advisors" to do his dirty work for him . This game is as old as recorded history and unfortunately , the U.S. has fallen for this ploy too many times .
Word gets around .

Buhari it is time to move on. Do what is best for Nigeria. Build on the relationship that have already been created. We can buy weapons from other countries. We can get training from other countries. I think Obama is miss using the Leahy Law. To my understand, the Leahy law is not a permanent arms embargo. Once the violations are addressed, the restrictions are lifted. Nigeria has taken measures to address human rights violations by soldiers. Also the Leahy law only applies to tax payers funding of military aid to other countries. It doesn't say anything about arm sales. The Nigeria government is trying to buy the military hardware. The refusal of the sale of weapons to Nigeria is a good thing. We can buy weapons from other countries without any strings attached. We maintain the sovereignty integrity of our country. President Buhari please come to your senses, do what is best for Nigeria. Stand up for Nigeria and the African continent, not for other interests.

Buhari is not yet ready to face Boko Haram. Nigerians should give him more time to clear the 16 years mess of PDP By September, just like Obama did, he would ask for records and files from previous govt on the prosecution of the war. After then will Nigerians start to witness the war against terrorism. Meanwhile Boko Haram is busy gaining ground every day.

When GEJ said this, they called him clueless.

Who's now clueless? This government seems both clueless and idea less .
