There has been a reported outbreak of a chemical poisoning
related ailment in and around the neighbourhood of the
Plateau State Water Board Treatment plant situated at
Dogon Karfe area of Jos city.
Unconfirmed reports has it that the outbreak was as a result
of attempts by some yet to be identified persons to steal the
chemical from the plant but it evaporated into the
atmosphere thereby affecting some residents around the
area. As at the time of this report the number of those
affected is still sketchy.
However, there are indications that scores of people
affected were rushed to the Plateau Specialist Hospital for
medical attention.
Early this morning men and officers of the Plateau state
command of the NPF with nose-mask were sighted around
the plant.
The latest unconfirmed report coming to us has it that there
are already deposited with the Plateau Specialist Hospital,
Jos, above 60 dead bodies from the same poisoning.
People living in Jos and Bukuru, etc are advised not to
drink from taps. Please pass this on to create an
awareness asap.
