Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has charged Nigeria’s politicians to stop killing people, but rather, impact positively on them.

He gave the charge on Saturday, at the convocation ceremony of Igbinedion University, Okada, Ovia north-east local government area of Edo state, at which he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree.

Jonathan who spoke against the backdrop of the violence that marred the governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa states, said what makes a politician is the impact he is able to make on the people and not their offices.

HOODLUMS LAUNCH ATTACK ON FC IFEANYI UBAH

The traveling FC ifeanyi Ubah team have been attacked by suspected unknown gunmen around Okene in Kogi state.

The team made up of players and officials were on their way to honour Matchday six clash of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) with Jigawa Golden Stars in Dutse.

GOV BELLO INAUGURATES NAVAL BASE IN KOGI

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi on Friday inaugurated the Nigeria Navy Ship Lugard and Navy Barracks in Banda.

The base was established to ensure adequate security of the water ways in the Confluence state and its neighbours.

Bello inaugurated the newly constructed brick model 96 Housing Units, 1.83km road and other facilities in the new Naval base.

A Political activist and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Timi Frank, on Monday, congratulated the Governor-elect of Bayelsa state, David Lyon, describing his victory as deserving.

Frank in a statement in Abuja also urged National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Secondus and the National Working Committee (NWC) led by him to apologise or resign over the loss of a state controlled by the party since 1999.

“This victory was not won by the APC but by the people of Bayelsa who have resisted imposition and oppression with their blood because of their implicit confidence in the capacity of Lyon to transform the state and change their story for the better,” he said.

AIR PEACE SIGNS FIRM ORDER FOR 3 ADDITIONAL E195-E2 JETS, WORTH $212.6M

Air Peace Airline says it has signed a contract with Embraer for three additional E195-E2 aircraft, worth $212.6 million.

The company said in a statement on Sunday in Lagos that the contract confirmed the purchase rights from the original contract signed in April.

It said the new E195-E2s would be included in Embraer’s 2019 fourth-quarter backlog and the $212.6 million was based on Embraer’s current list prices.
