Governor olusegun mimiko of Ondo state has put a ban to the operation of okada riders within the state capital akure. This was because of the protest by the commercial motocyclist following the government rules concerning their plate numbers. They were told to change from blue to red plate number, change to new numbers and the they must collect the plate number for Ondo state and not for another state. The cost of motocycle plate number is between 10k-15k in the state while in Lagos and other star, it s less than 9k. The okada riders damaged the followers planted by the state government on the major roads in Akure and the estimated cost of planting and maintenace for the past 4 yrs was put at 17million. So now they have to pay for the damages and the masses are really feeling the pain because okada is the most widely use means of transportation within the state capital. And Mr governor insisted that they must register their bike before any operation in the state which must be done with the newly introduced CARD IGBEAYO . The said igbeayo card was free before but now you have to pay N2k to have the state owned identity cases that qualifies you and you children to use state facilities such has hospital treatment, state schools and so on.
