Boko Haram insurgents on Monday, in a stern response to Nigeria’s Army Chief, Tukur Buratai, launched a second attack on his home town since he was announced by President Muhammadu Buhari.

This attack on Buratai’s home town would be the fourth since February 2014, PRNigeria reported.

This is coming as President Buhari plans to visit Cameroon on July 29 for talks with his counterpart President Paul Biya.

The duo are expected to talk on the best strategies to end the regional threat posed by the insurgent gang. This was made known by the President’s spokesman, Femi Adesina.

“President Buhari is going to Cameroon on Wednesday. He will hold talks with President Biya on arrival on Wednesday and the issue of Boko Haram will be central in their discussion.”
This would be Buhari’s 7th foreign trip outside Nigeria since he got into office on May 29, 2015 and the spates of attacks from the insurgents have been increasing.

Nigerians now appear dismayed at the correlation between his foreign trips and providing a solution to stopping the attacks.

Against the continuous attacks in Borno and especially on Buratai’s hometown, he vowed to engage the sect in an offensive disposition to eradicate them from the country.

“We must take the battle to them and dislodge them wherever they are.
“In line with these, we must learn to adopt offensive disposition and respond quickly and appropriately to all situations, taking into cognizance our rules of engagement.

“In view of our current challenges, our primary assignment in contributing our quota to national service is in line with my vision to strive towards eradicating the menace of terrorism from our nation.”

Two days after this remark, the insurgents staged a deadly attack on the community, killing two people and destroying homes including Buratai’s family home, in an attempt to seize the town.

An eye witness Mr Usman who spoke to journalist explained that the latest attack was completely out of tune with their modus operandi saying the insurgents had to reinforce to lay siege on Buratai home town early on Tuesday July 28, 2015.
