Jaguar has updated the F-Pace: a different salon, only “automatic” and a revised engine range

Live sales of new items in the home market will begin in December 2020, now dealers are taking orders. Prices for the “refreshed” crossover are already known.

The British company began selling its first crossover, the F-Pace, in the spring of 2016. The model is produced at the British JLR plant in Solihull. The best SUV for this was 2017: then on the European market, dealers managed to sell 30,920 copies, then sales began to decline. The F-Pace’s exterior remained largely intact during the update. The radiator grille of the “refreshed” crossover received a different pattern and became a little larger, there is no longer a bar between it and the edge of the hood. Both bumpers have changed, the design of alloy wheels, the shape of the exhaust pipes; the rear lights now have the same styling as the electric sibling I-Pace.

But the interior of the restyled F-Pace has changed much more noticeably. The crossover received a new generation multimedia system with a touch screen enlarged to 11.4 inches in the center of the front panel (in the pre-reform version – 10 inches), two SIM-cards and the ability to update software “over the air”. “Tidy” is still digital, the diagonal remains the same (12.3 inches), now it has a projection screen. On the center console there is a touchscreen with rotating handles, and on the central tunnel the place of the washer was taken by the joystick to control the automatic transmission. BMW has updated the M5: a new digital digital dashboard and laser headlights, and the engine is the same

The Bavarian manufacturer at the end of last month introduced the “refreshed” sedan and station wagon BMW 5 series. Now it’s the turn of the “charged” version, which is presented only in the form of a “four-door”. The company declassified two versions at once – M5 and M5 Competition. The updated “four-door” model received the same grille as the restyled “5” BMW (branded “nostrils” became more voluminous) and LED head optics with L-shaped daytime running lights (matrix headlights with laser high beam are available as an option). In the front bumper, M5 is noticeable with larger air intakes, and the rear bumper has a larger diffuser. The front wings are made of carbon fiber. The version with the Competition added to the name can still be recognized by the spoiler on the trunk lid and black decorative elements.

The interior of the M5 versions was updated with a new digital dashboard and another multimedia system with an enlarged touchscreen – a diagonal of 12.3 inches instead of 10.25 inches. The projection display can now be displayed in two different modes (depending on the selected driving electronics settings).

The standard equipment of the top version of the BMW M5 Competition M Special includes not only laser headlights, but also active cruise control, a parking assistant, a BMW Drive Recorder, heating all seats, automatic four-zone climate control, wireless charging of gadgets, etc. Some countries will not get a function that allows you to start remotely the engine and open / lock doors using smartphones with NFC technology.

Bentley, a luxury car company, was founded in 1919. Since 1998, it is part of the German concern Volkswagen. The economic crisis, which is the result of the coronavirus pandemic, has hit the automotive industry, including manufacturers of expensive cars. Therefore, Bentley has developed its own business restructuring plan.

As part of the strategy, the British company plans to cut nearly a quarter of its workforce at the Crewe plant. This is a thousand jobs (currently 4.2 thousand people are employees: about 2.2 thousand people returned to the plant in May, about 1.5 thousand work at home, another 500 are on vacation). Bentley noted that this decision was not easy for them, but such a step is necessary to protect the jobs of those factory workers who remain in production.

It is known that initially it is planned to reduce staff due to voluntary dismissals (the conditions of such care were not disclosed in the company). If the required number of vacant jobs is not reached, then Bentley does not exclude forced cuts.

It is expected that the dismissal of a quarter of the plant’s employees will allow the manufacturer to compensate for the lost income due to the shutdown of the company in Crewe, as well as due to the decline in sales of new cars (due to COVID-19). Note, the most popular car of the brand today is the Bentayga crossover. At the end of 2019, dealers sold 991 units in Europe, which is 18.6% less than a year earlier.
