The inspector general of Police, IGP Solomon Arase has disclosed that 36,000 policemen and women are going to be sitting for promotion examinations between now and December, 2015. The IGP made this know weekend during his official visit to the FCT command where he assured the officers and men that the welfare of his personnel was paramount to the police management. Arase who pointed out to the command personnel that the promotion exercise would be transparent, however, stressed that no personnel would be allowed to circumvent the exercise. “The graduate officers promotion course is going on, we have placed some condition for that. First and foremost, about 36,000 of you are supposed to be attending promotion courses between now and December and that is including about 4,000 inspectors who will be attending very soon,” he said. The police boss who fielded questions from journalists said that the police investigation into the alleged forgery of senate rules levelled against the clerk of the assembly and the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu has not been closed. According to him, the investigation is an ongoing process and the police is conducting the investigation following all due processes. “There are no limitation to criminal investigations and no statute to restrict how long an investigation is going to take. It is an ongoing process apart from the normal investigation you talk about the forensic process so its a continuous thing,” he said. This should be the first acid test for President Buhari's anti-corruption crusade. Buhari should come and invigilate the exams himself with the assistance of Daura, the DG of DSS if he is serious to check corruption in the system. I don't trust 95% of the examiners let alone the corrupt Invigilators |
