Nigeria- Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, has revealed the reason for his interest in buying North London's Arsenal Football Club.

'Buying Arsenal will take the Nigerian flag worldwide. Just like whenever (Chelsea owner) Roman Abramovich is mentioned, the name of his country comes up. Everyone knows he's Russian.' He told FORBES

Dangote had been criticized by some people in Nigeria for not investing the domestic league there, but he thinks that the Gunners represent a better project.

I had a very long argument with a friend today. He supports the fact that "Dangote is interested in buying Arsenal".
He gave good reasons also.

But, lets take a look at Dangote's reason.. He said our flag will be raised up! However it's hard to see how Abramovich's ownership of Chelsea has helped improve Russia's worsening economy. The country's currency is weak and its banks are ignoring its currency and giving out loans in Chinese Yuan.
Nigeria's GDP for the year is expected to fall to a 5-year low, its currency, Naira, is getting weaker, and majority of its 170 million population lack uninterrupted power supply.
So his reason is totally wrong buying Arsenal won't do anything.

Dangote might however have other reasons for buying Arsenal that might favor Nigeria and Nigerians which i dont know.

Let this man buy arsenal if he desires such. Help Nigeria in this, help Nigeria in that. It high time Nigeria helped herself. Dangote has done so much for Nigeria.
