Eleme Local Government Area is located on the outskirt of Port Harcourt city, Rivers State. It is one of the fastest developing community in Rivers state. In recent times, we have seen notable and laudable changes. At the heart of Eleme and at the center of this developmental strides is a great man, an icon, a man of valor, a celebrated Traditional ruler, HRH. Appolus Chu of Okori community.
He has seen his community and Eleme as a whole through in many phases of developments by his wholesome dedication to good work and through the immense efforts and contributions of his foundation, HRH APPOLUS CHU FOUNDATION.
Last week Sunday, HRH. Appolus Chu welcomed the present local government new caretaker chairman, Barr. Philip Okparaji to his palace, an astute visit geared towards the vision for the better existence of the people of Eleme. In the process, HRH Appolus Chu admonished the local government chairman to pay special attention to town-planning for Eleme communities. He foresees a great structurally developed Eleme which can only be attained through proper town planning. If proper town planning is not done in this early stage of growth, there might be need for demolitions in the near future to accommodate the development foreseen. ''we should pay attention to proper town-planning, construction of drainages, proper allocation of building suites, road mapping and other permanent or temporary visible constructions, Eleme has seen the light, we cannot wait on the government to build our world, we can make a change"
'' HRH. Appolus Chu advised during the visit. He went ahead to suggest a roadmap towards the realization of this development when he said "some roads are already lost because houses were built in places where roads and streets are supposed to run though, we can create roads in the virgin areas to avoid such reoccurrences so the government and other agencies coming for more development can know where to start from.... hire bulldozers and workers for the host communities to co-ordinate the road creation”.
He urged the people of Eleme communities to join hands in building Eleme. The future is bright and clear for them.
He reassured the people of his unending support and dedication to their well being.
