30-year-old Valery Spiridonov, a Russian who is suffering from a debilitating genetic muscle wasting disease called Werdnig-Hoffman disease whose victims usually die before the age 20, avowing that he has suffered in his old body as a result of this disease volunteered that his head be cut off and placed in a new body in a bid to escape the pangs of the illness.

This he saw as his last opportunity to get a miraculous touch from an Italian surgeon who has long been defending his ability to perform this extraordinary medical feat seeking fund and specialists from the U.S. to help him complete this ambitious project.

Sergio Canavero, the surgeon said he could achieve this by using a special nano blade to detach Valery's head and attach it to the new body from a donor. Using special biological glue called polyethylene glycol, electrical currents and stitching the muscles and the rest of the blood vessels, he would make the head connect to the new body. He said he would also freeze the brain to the point where it would still be alive while cut off from its blood supply.

Doctors round the world have greeted this project as a bogus waste of efforts, time and resources because there has not been any evidence that a severed spinal cord can be fused together to work, and there is no evidence that the brain can be kept alive for long enough to move it to another body.

Despite the realities, both Valery and doctor Canavero are not giving up, slating 2017 to perform the surgery.

Would this be the case of voluntary suicide on the side of Valery Spiridonov or the case of voluntary or involuntary manslaughter on the side of doctor Sergio Canavero?

But considering the fact that things as complicated as the skull and scalp, the entire face, the heart, two hands etc. have been successfully transplanted would this be a new revolutionary feat in modern medicine?

Whatever the case is, indeed technology is amazing.
