Saraki To Introduce E- Parliament System In Nigeria by sayyid(m): 8:14am On Aug 13, 2015 |
The Senate President Bukola Saraki has said that the Senate has nothing to hide. The senate president made this statement while receiving the leadership of the All Progressive Congress Youth Forum (APYF) in his office as part of the celebration of this year’s International Youth Day. According to him, the 8th Senate is committed to openness as he plans to introduce the e-parliament system. it was gathered that the e- parliament being planned by the Senate is meant to give voice to Nigerians who will want to contribute to discussions on issues concerning the upper chamber of the legislature. Saraki said: “I want to assure you, despite all what you read in the papers, be rest assured that we are here for serious business. We are all committed to make a difference and my doors are open. Very soon, from what I am being told from the Senate Committee on Rules and Business, we are trying to move fast about the e-parliament so that everybody here can know what we are doing and they can also contribute to some of the discussions. “We want to make this place as open as possible. There is nothing here we are hiding. What is our great motivation? Nigerians spoke at the last elections and I don’t think they spoke for things to be the same and we must not let it be the same. We must ensure that it is positively different. “For example, the issue of rebuilding the Northeast. We believe there are no schools. There are no hospitals. There are no homes. That cannot come from normal budgetary allocation or appropriations. As a country, we must make a special case for the rebuilding of the Northeast and again, that is going to come from the support of the National Assembly and that is an area of focus for us.” Meanwhile, the Senate has urged the Central Bank of Nigeria to carry out a vigorous campaign of the Bank Verification exercises in rural areas. www.naij.com/516981-saraki-introduce-e-parliament-system-nigeria-read.html |

Gettingvthe people involved should have been a primary responsibility. Even though tis late, tis a welcomed development. I sincerely hope that the voice of the people are truly heard. |

sayyid: Nice one but we are already contributing via other platforms like Nairaland, Twitter and facebook. You are not doing us any favour by opening your books - it is our right to know as tax-payers. You are remunerated by public funds and taxes. One burning issue you and your colleagues have failed to address is the fact that you people are earning too much from public fund while the nation grapple with economic woes. Let us start with your budget and allowances - what about 70% slash? sayyid: Yes ooo we never envisaged anyone would have the effrontery to forge a Nigeria Senate order in year 2015. We also dont see anything positive about that. |
