OONI of Ife Oba Okunade Sijuwade’s burial has been put on hold after a man elected to be buried alive with the monarch absconded unwilling to be the one to keep the king company in the afterlife. Unconfirmed reports from Ile-Ife indicate that the designated person to be buried alive alongside the monarch, known traditionally as the Abobaku, took to his heels for dear life.

all this silly selfish traditions that people are practicing. Why can't the chefs or any of his siblings or children go and "keep him company" in the after world.

How can a human be buried with another?
That should be murder and as the case stands now attempted murder.
This is totally unacceptable and untraditional if you ask me to bury an innocent human just for another dead one.

This is a culture I hate but it is an evil practice that is done also in the south east & south south, eg it happened in port Harcourt sometime last year. May God continue to protect we & all our lived ones and may God also stop this evil called human sacrifice. Amen.
