The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has told the Taraba State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja that it did not supervise the primary election that produced the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the April 11, 2015 governorship election held in the state.
The electoral body claimed that the primary election of the PDP was conducted in violation of the law which requests that INEC must be present to supervise and observe the conduct of the poll.
Counsel to the PDP, Mr Solomon Akuma (SAN), countered the claim and showed the tribunal document showing that there was a primary election of the party that produced Darius Ishaku as its governorship candidate for the said election.
During the hearing of the petition, one of the petitioners’ witness and an INEC official, Aminu Idris, told the tribunal that no INEC official was in attendance when the primary election took place.

Inec's move would have been made earlier than now, even if jega allowed so many mistakes during the elections, they should also know that in the case of lagos where INEC was present, the APC rigged the elections, same applies to Rivers.

Jega is worse than jonathan. But people are praising him because he delivered BUHAri. There was serious irregularities in the north here. Some places in jalingo taraba state where Muslims reside, before u put your ballot paper in the box, you must show it to everyone that you voted APC otherwise you will not be allowed to cast your vote in that polling unit. But my advice is that everyone should forget about election issues let's move forward or do want the president to still bring his certificate?

Mama Taraba may still have a shot at being a governor earlier than I thought. grin grin grin grin

PDP and their dubious ways. In Enugu we had 4 candidates emerging as winners of PDP candidate, before Ogwuanyi took the day.

In as much I dont knw d details but I think this caption is misleading. Mr Aminu Idris testified as a petitioner's witness and not as Inec (which I believe as a body will be defending d commission for returning d candidate of d pdp). My first question is, whether it is right within d context of civil service rules for an Inec staff paid with tax payers money to appear in court against d official position of d commission without being reprimanded. Secondly, this is a pre-election matter also no pdp candidate is complaining of being rigged ou of d primaries, and Inec has already conductd d election and from Rotimi Amaechi case in 2007, its been established dat in d eye of d law it is party not individuals that win elections. This is part of why Nigerians believe d Ag chair of Inec Mrs Zakari might be on an assignment. The tribunal shd be encouraged to adjudicate the matter on its merit as per whether there was substantial compliance to d electoral act and not on technicalities.
