Chelsea have confirmed they've signed full-back Abul Baba-Rahman from Augsburg in a deal reported to be worth around £14 million.

The Blues broke the news in the aftermath of their 3-0 defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium yesterday which leaves them with just one point from their first two games of the season.

Baba-Rahman arrives at Stamford Bridge as a replacement for Filipe Luis, who was allowed to return to Atletico Madrid a year after leaving Spain earlier this summer.

Chelsea confirmed the deal in a statement on their official website which read: "Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce we have reached an agreement with FC Augsburg for the transfer of Abdul Baba Rahman"

The 21-year-old spent one season with Augsburg where he featured in 31 league games before making his big-money move to the Premier League.

I have said since the end of last season Chelsea FC will suffer at the back if adjustments aren't made. I hope it isn't too late as the team will have to fight emotions to get back to winning ways as they travel to west brom next week.

Chelsea still needs a right back and could rest on the center back possition if Ivanovic is moved to the CB role.
