Ndi-Igbo under the auspices of World Igbo Congress in the Diaspora and at home have been urged to attend the annual congress of the group where the state of Ndi-Igbo in Nigeria and a road map on how to internationalise its cause will be discussed.

This, it said, is to the effect that the global community will understand the plight of the race in Nigeria especially in the area of marginalisation.

In a press released made available to LEADERSHIP Sunday, the forum stated that as a determined organisation, they want to
ensure that Ndi-Igbo will no longer be timid about demanding and receiving equity and fairness in Nigeria. Therefore, they want to
direct Ndi-Igbo to stop allowing other groups to direct their destiny in the country.

According to the organisation, it is their collective responsibility to chart their own cause and work assiduously towards
achieving them.

The yearly congress will also assess the impact of the 2015 general elections and map out pathways to future successes. It said Ndigbo have decided that they will not let the outcome of the presidential election undermine their success insisting that their
progress will not be determined by whoever is the president of Nigeria.

According to the organisers, the event will take place in September 2015 in the United States. The congress, in a statement, also seeks to pursue unity and protection of Igbo
interests within Nigeria and at the same time help to build lasting and enduring bridges of understanding among the Igbo nation especially in the contiguous homeland and other tribes living in their midst.

The release further stated that no tribe in Nigeria has suffered more marginalisation than the Igbo people citing federal
government’s reluctance to build a new bridge on the River Niger after promises from three administrations. It also cited the
massacre of Igbo people in the northern part of the country and the recent calls by some people for the massacre of Igbo
people in Nigeria. It therefore said they will proffer mechanism for achieving Igbo unity where every person of Igbo nationality is
held responsible for his/her activities in the advancement of the collective Igbo interests.

It warned of dire sanctions on individuals who bring disunity and disrepute to the Igbo nation.
