2013 I was ill and admitted in Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital Port Harcourt. The services I got there got me so impressed that began to wonder why people choose private hospitals over Government hospitals. The had/have all equipments, steady light, good good Doctors and nurses. I watched the Doctors save a life that would have been lost in a private hospital( cos we concluded that that woman's case was spiritual, and a friend lost his dad to that same case too). Every payment was made at a pay point with receipts given, without your receipt, you will not be attended to except it's an emergency. I just declared there and then that private hospital will not see me.
But last week, I went to General Hospital Calabar and I saw why people preferred private hospital to government ones. The level of extortion is something else from where you buy cards to the Doctors and the Laboratory scientist. U buy card #1000, no receipt, and u watch them record #500, Dr sold his drugs and carried out his test in his office which you pay separately, the Dr called a special Lab scientist to carry out the test, you pay the lab scientist huge money for test, no receipt given, then if scan or xray is needed, the hospital do not carry out those ones(please do not ask me why), you will be sent to a private lab to carry out scan or xray( note, if you go to another lab other than the lab the Dr sent you to, they won't acknowledge that result. I was so sad. Become I still have the receipt from the #20 bandage . I bought from BMSH.

I WEEP FOR MY STATE, and other places people are suffering this in Nigeria

Please I think this thread should be moved to front page to give Nigerians the opportunity to express their pleasure and displeasure about the happenings in our various hospitals and also ensures that the managements are made aware of needs for improvements, and commendations given where appropriate.

Government hospitals are supposed to be the best and cheap. But this suff is making people prefer private hospitals

Your governor privatised healthcare. It's at a budding stage. A lot of us are watching it's outcome.

Then again, this your experience should be looked into seriously. It's just not right. No matter the excuse
