Hello fellow Nairalanders, a 19year old Nigerian(named Mr. A) needs your candid advice on the right decision and step to take on his journey to secure admission into higher institution of learning in Nigeria.
He is an ambitious person with a long standing dream of serving his fatherland through the military but failed to make the final admission list into the Academy after 3 attempts. Nevertheless, there is a ray of hope for him(scoring 229 in jamb), but in contrast to his dream, to gain admission into second tier institution(Polytechnic; based on the status quo: University > Polytechnic). His main problem is he doesn't want to attend polytechnic(he feels there is little value for HND, not all scholarships are open to polytechnics, non availability of his desired course etc), and if he attends, he will be switching over to university later. Age is also not on his side. Should Mr. A proceed with application into polytechnic(sure admission) or wait till next year so he can pursue his dream(never give up, with determination and working, impossibility = 0) of becoming an officer in the Nigerian Armed Forces or apply for admission into a federal university(admission also looks certain or say, sure)? Please and please, your kind and sincere advice is needed. No insult please.

My advice: start part time in a school of your choice. This will give u the ability to mix and know about how to get into that particular uni then u can make a switch next year instead of going to polytechnic that u dnt like .
