The authorities of Adamawa State University, Mubi, have recruited 80 vigilante men and hunters to ensure the security of the university community.
Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof Joshua Shall, disclosed this to newsmen in Mubi on Thursday, just as the institution resumed academic activities.
Shall said the institution was aware of the complementary role played by the vigilance groups and hunters assisting the military to recapture Mubi town after it was overran by insurgents in October 2014, and therefore decided to recruited them to continue with their complementary role.
Shall, who said 95% of the students had resumed classes, stated that the institution lost 11 staff and three students, while property worth N5 billion were destroyed by the insurgents.
“They (insurgents) broke into all offices, staff quarters, hostels, laboratories, stores and looted properties,” he said.
The vice chancellor said the school managed to re-open following the intervention it received from TETFund which supported it with N250 million.
He said TETFund also approved a substantial amount of money for the institution which his management was now trying to access to sustain the ongoing rehabilitation in the university.
While lauding TETFund for the support, Shall also commended the national body of Academic Staff Union of Universities for donating N21 million to its members in the university.
He said the university had also compiled the lists of damages incurred by its staff and submitted same to the Victim Support Fund for possible assistance.

Buhari, we Nigerians are warning you severely. Do not attempt to send your boko boys to kill these brave innocent hunters that are protecting us. Enough is enough. We will march to aso rock and call for your impeachment and imprisonment if we hear any more boko attacks

Remember what the Egyptian court did to its former president Mohamed Morsi and your name is also Mohamed

If you dont value your life then enroll for northern universities. but if your life is so precious to you and for the society at large then enroll for any eastern university. the northern nigeria is never a good place to study

Like Buhari always say, it's a shame that Nigeria has had to resort to local hunters for protection against boko haram.

However, I hope that the security agencies become fully empowered soon to do their job effectively.

No nation should be proud that it is exposing its civilian population to so much danger when the police, the military and other paramilitary agencies exist.

the way this corrupt buhari is disgracing us in this country is very alarming and shameful. in a govt where the citizens have to employ their own securities and yet the stupid corrupt government would still expect us to pay taxes.

some questins comes to mind.

what is that cretinous old dullard doing with our oil money ?

why is this evil man busy laying foundations where his inlaws and friends are his appointees instead of running a transparent govt. where people can monitor and have access to reports and know how they are governed?

what is that most corrupt head of state Buhari doing with our tax money?

why is this slow government allowing and enjoying the sufferings of Nigerians and rewarding the murders called Boko haram to continue in this evil?

why is Boko haram being rewarded with multi million reward for killing people in the name of amnesty?

why do those bastards from the west , the LSS guys ie. The long Suffering Servants enjoying the mess of their evil plans schemed out of hatred for the country?

many question need took be addressed . This Buhari is gradually returning us to the chaos of the 70s when he destroyed Nigeria save for the braveness of IBB who ousted him out.
this govt is corrupt and stealing our oil money and the world is watching. Buhari continue........
