President Buhari speaking at the opening of the 55th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) in Abuja on Sunday, August 23, said that exposing all types of crimes was the only way to arrest corruption and restore the glory of the land.

According to Vanguard, he said that legal profession would achieve more credibility if the members of the bar and the bench uphold their professional ethics.

He said: “As you all know by now, this administration has taken on the challenge of improving security, fighting corruption and revamping the economy, among many others.

The fight against corruption is in reality a struggle for the restoration of law and order. Corruption and impunity become widespread when disrespect for law is allowed to thrive in society. Disrespect for law also thrives when people get away with all sorts of shady deals and the court system is somehow unable to check them.”

“Ability to manipulate and frustrate the legal system is the crowning glory of the corrupt and, as may be expected, this has left many legal practitioners and law courts tainted in an ugly way. I believe, should be your role as legal practitioners, in helping us back to the path of rectitude,” he added.

Meanwhile the president and All Progressive Congress (APC) leadership have reportedly refused to accept the apologies of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Report say that Saraki is trying to find the ways to bury the hatchet of cold war with the leadership of the party and the president after he hijacked the key positions in the Senate on June 9 with help of some PDP members.

SOMEONE SHOULD REMIND ME THE JOB OF A LAWYER AGAIN, THIS WAR ON KWARUPTION NO B SMALL THING O.

Senator Saraki is just making things more terrible for himself. I knew his pleadings will not be accepted. Imagine the way he treated the president and his party leadership and when he wants to beg, it was the likes of Ndume who encouraged him to defy his party that he is sending to beg the president and Asiwaju.
How come he could not recruit someone from the 51 senators he technically disenfranchised, after all they said he has been endorsed by 81 senators. He must think Buhari and Tinubu are fools.

You have the right to have a lawyer.

If you can not afford one the state will provide one.

If you choose to defend yourself in court you have a fool as a client .

What is this despotic fool spewing? Does he now want us to believe anybody he arraigns in a court of law does not deserve representation?

Does he now want the courts to operate like his kangaroo tribunals that he set up during his despotic regime which were not meant to be trial courts but sentencing courts?

This man is still living on west Germany time.

view this spoken word: "THE CHANGE WE WANT"...A message from a concerned citizen to Muhammadu Buhari to logically prove that he is a product of necessity. It also unravels the insincerity behind the people's clamour for change.

Buhari and Tinubu are fools for being scammed by saraki in the first place.

If you have evidence to prove beyond any reasonable doubt then you need not worry about the defence team.

This statement by Buhari proves he will appoint judges he knows he can influence their final judgement.

Once again Buhari is showing his despotic tendencies and is set to turn our law courts to military sentencing tribunals.

Any zombie that supports this useless statement should know that your blind support for this despotic illiterate will sooner or later cost you your democratic rights and freedom.

Everyone is innocent until proven guilty so until guilt is established every person is entitled to legal representation. The topic is misleading anyway cos I don't see where he outrightly tells lawyers not to represent corrupt clients. He's more on asking them not to exploit judicial loopholes but that is the job of every lawyer so the prosecution had better make sure they're prepared with good cases before approaching the court.

Does anyone actually vet this mans speeches? Isn't it when an accused has his day in court that one can conclusively say if he's corrupt or not?

What if his enemies are out to get him and then make all sorts of accusations against him?......Will Buhari then conclude he's corrupt without first giving the accused a chance to defend himself?
