100 Days In Office: Buhari, Clueless Of Apc’s Manifesto – Garba Shehu by salterswan: 6:30pm On Aug 29, 2015
As Nigerians wait in anticipation to celebrate the accomplishments recorded 100 days into President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has come out to controversially state that some claims in the All Progressives Congress, APC, manifesto were neither seen nor authorized by the President.

Shehu made this disclosure in an article published in THISDAY newspaper on August 29, titled “UNDERSTANDING BUHARI IN 100 DAYS” and stated that Buhari’s performance should not judged in just 100 days in office, promising better days ahead of his administration.

“There is a certain document tagged ‘One Hundred Things Buhari Will Do in 100 Days’ and the other, ‘My Covenant with Nigerians.’

“Both pamphlets bore the authorized party logo but as the Director of Media and Communications in that campaign, I did not fund or authorize any of those.

“I can equally bet my last Kobo that Candidate Buhari did not see or authorize those publications,” Shehu said.

Historically, the 100 days in office is traced to the era of Franklin D. Roosevelt where he promised drastic initiatives within his first 100 days of office.

This has become a set standard of action that subsequent Presidents all over the world have been measured against. Although it has less significance, analysts believe that it is a template for measuring a President’s performance in line with its manifesto.

Buhari has gone from enjoying chants of “Sai Baba” to “Baba Go slow” having been criticized for his slow and sluggish pace in marshalling his campaign promise of “Change” which served as a springboard towards his ascension to power.

In the area of economic management, Shehu stated that Buhari release of bailout funds has been able to save the State Governments from collapse, insisting the body language of the President was an antidote for ensuring 24 hour power supply which many cities in Nigeria are currently enjoying.

He however did not state which particular States were beneficiaries of the 24 hours power supply.

“He didn’t put a Kobo to finance the power sector. Yet, reading his body language alone and knowing that there are things you cannot do and get away with under Buhari, electricity supply all over the countries has risen to unprecedented heights.

“Actually, some cities are on the verge of calling 24-hour, round the clock power supply. The country generates more power than can internally be taken by the deplorable distribution system we have on the ground, which points to the next challenge that the country faces.”

The Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Agency recently stated that the coordination achieved with other energy agencies during the ex-president’s administration was responsible for the current stability in power generation. How long can you go defending cluelessness. Tinubu, Amechi and co did it during electioneering campaign and now they are reaping what they did sow. APC full of excuses, one chance party.

So he had come to openly tell us they were tooling every device to deceive us. Well a few got the clue to this but the wasting Nigeria sold our collective destiny.

However, they will also have a fair share of Buhari's deeds and misdeeds.

The country is naturally blessed with myopic, underperforming and self-centered people as president.

The APC is now being haunted by the saying, “When you point one finger, there are three fingers pointing back at you.” If it knew, it wouldn’t have accused Goodluck Jonathan of running a very corrupt government. Most times, we forget to listen to the voice of reason that says, “Look in the mirror, brother. You might just be talking about yourself.” It is now clear that the APC focused on the speck in Jonathan’s eye and ignored the log in their own eyes.” Who would have thought that just few weeks into a new regime in Lagos State, Fashola would be engulfed with the following accusations – Drilling of just two bore holes with N139m, remodelling and equipping of the official residence of the state’s Chief Judge at N510m, reconstructing of a car park with N640m, spending N300m to relocate cables, N175m to replace the railings of a pedestrian bridge, N220m on the facility management of the Lagos State University College of Medicine, N619m on surface repair of a road, N1.2bn on the construction of an unidentified multi-storey building, N1.6bn on the construction of a 48-bedroom hotel. These things don’t seem like what a person as intelligent as the former governor would do; especially for those of us who regard him as one of the very few bright spots of our democracy. In fact, I am still of the belief that in the annals of corrupt governors in Nigeria, his place remains to be seen. But the question here is, can the Lagos State government come out with such weighty accusations without having evidence to back them up?.

This is not fair on jonathan. If jonathan was clueless, calling buhari a dullard will Definately be a compliment. Let it be on record that even if buhari will still improve on his Dullardness...he failed in his first 100days. such a waste

They were busy forking out unrealistic promises during the campaign. Now Instead of acting on the promises, what we get is mouth action.

I think PMB was contesting elections as a hobby and with any expectations of winning. That explains why several months after winning an election, he's not been able to form a government. Instead of working with the people that drew up the manifesto, he's surrounding himself with his kins and denying the manifesto.

PMB= Promise Made tobe
Broken.

And anyone who is still thinking that its too early to start assessing Mr Buhari on his performance so far and that to come after counting a 100 days in office needs to be checked. I really don't know the actual direction this present government is heading. One thing that has been kept aloud is 'anti-corruption crusade. We need not remind him of the fact that we did not appoint him there only for system cleansing. We need to see new infra structure put up, construction of more kilometres of roads, construction of modern rail lines to ease transportation, commissioning of more power generation stations, inflow of investors into the country, etc.
