It is no longer news that Boko Haram has gone international. The terror group, pampered by the north, overlooked by the nigeria government, has become a thorn on our flesh. So much has been documented, so many have been killed, but I am yet to see a comprehensive policy from the nigeria government on how to tackle this menace, going forward. Niger, Cameroon, and Chad have entered the fray, and for some reason appear to be more determined than Nigeria in the fight against the terror group. Chad, in particular, has been quite impressive, having banned the use of hijab some months back. And just two days ago, executed 10 convicted Boko Haram members that were involved in the July 15 bombing in N’Djamena. In contrast, Nigeria, which is the origin of the group, has done almost nothing with captured members of BH. Funningly, they have been either held in detention until they escape or frequently transferred from one prison to another. IMO, I think Nigeria has got to consider the 'ultimate deterrent' i.e capital punishment in the fight against the sect. Nigeria should, as a matter of urgency, set up a special and fast-tracked court to handle the trial of captured/suspected boko haramites. Let's stop pussyfooting, but instead borrow a leaf from Chad. The time is now! |

Is this a non-issue? Why are we congesting prisons with suspected terrorists? Why feed boko haram members with task payers money, whilst they continue to run riot. For how long do we intend to keep them in captivity? |

Dabigbroda:Amnesty would do what they do best. But, as a 'rattled' nation, nigeria have got to take the bull by the horns. |
