Yesterday Tuesday 1st September was a terrible day in different parts of Benin City Edo State Capital. Members of Edo State Special Task Force develop was to defraud motorists especially around Ramat Park Ikpoba Hill down to Benin/Agbor Road, Ugbowo/Lagos Road to Uniben Main Gate area, Sapele Road and New Benin Market axis also.

Yesterday at their office at Agbor Road the street just after NNPC Mega Station, a driver complained bitterly how he was set up by the task force to extort money from him. According to the driver, A man was standing by the road side with a vehicle gearbox begging him for lift to a short distance where his vehicle is, he parked properly to help the guy, he came down from his vehicle both of them carried the gearbox into his vehicle and he was surprised to see task force inside his vehicle claiming he parked in a wrong place. They drove his car to their office, getting there while he was trying to explain himself he was shocked to see the guy who was begging for lift brought a cab belonging to them, carried the condemned gearbox going back to same place.

Another elderly woman was also arrested by the force, while their office was like a bank where people come in and go out in large numbers, vehicles are towed in vehicles are bailed out.

The way they operate is when u are brought in all alleged offenders are given same crime, you'll be given a photocopied form with account number, you'll be asked to pay N30000 obviously they know you won't pay such outrageous amount, you'll then have to negotiate between 10-15k depend on your strength of negotiation, the former given to you will be collected back, you be asked to go inside their office to make payment without receipt then you'll be given another photocopied gate pass.

Another pattern being used on innocent motorist is, they'll ask hausa men around ugbowo main gate to sell yam on walk way, as motorist stop to buy while still inside their car they'll be arrested and taken to their office. Some of them will approach you respectfully, looking friendly, pretending to be friendly and helpful but once they get hold of your car key, nothing will stop them.

ADVICE TO VISITORS COMING TO BENIN CITY.
1. Don't ever stop to help anyone or you have yourself to blame.
2. If you are being held by these touts don't ever allow them to have access to your car key.
3. Always have your car central lock on to prevent them access into your car.
4. If you must park your car, park off the street and make sure your car is withing line of sight otherwise you'll be looking like someone who is mentally ill by asking people if they see your car that was parked here.

These touts are given target by Edo State Govt. so they must meet their target either by hook or crook.


Let's make Nigeria a better place, Nigerians should not be made to suffer in their mother land.

Edo State Govt should take this touts of the street if they have nothing to do with it. Recently they where driven out because of too much havoc committed by these touts about a week later they came back wearing another uniform.

I noticed this sort of criminal behaviour exhibited by the task force, while I was in Edo state. Another state that creates scenarios to extort money from unsuspecting citizens is Lagos state. This two synchronized state governments are like Hophni and Phineas in the bible. They are both like leeches, sucking the blood of those, they are both supposed to protect. May God save their citizens.
