Former OAU Students' Union President Emerges As 2015 Remo Child. by Jaymaxxy(m): 10:23pm On Sep 04, 2015
The Remo Child project was born in the wake of 2014 by some young passionate Remo Youths who believe in economic, social and cultural development of Remo people. The purpose of the initiative is to celebrate and encourage Remo talented youths to becoming one of (if not the best) of their kinds.
Therefore, under this score we reasoned that this is vital in any common cultural ground. But to be specific, on the following grounds:
(a) To celebrate, support and promote brainy among men.
(b) Empowerment of the less-privileges who will tomorrow makes Remo proud.
(c) To educate and preserve Remo valuable culture and tradition.
(d) To reach-out to physically challenged and less-privileges.
(e) To disseminate first-hand progressive information to our people.
However, it would be worthwhile to mention names of the initiators of the Remo Child:
(a) Olootu Seyi Idris
(b) Hon. Babatunde Ayorinde
(c) Mr. Yomi Fagbemi
(d) Abimbola Osisanwo
(e) Mr. Adegbuyi Oduguwa (UK)
(f) Mr. Arogundade Oluwakeji (Cyprus)
(g) Ms. Abiodun Adebisi
(h) And my humble self.
For the year, The Committee had met and agreed on common ground to select Mr. Isaac Ibikunle as 2015 Remo Child.
Brief Biography of Isaac Ibikunle
Ibikunle Isaac was born into a society where little or none is given. Unlike many others born in the Generation Y, Isaac distinguished himself to become a name to be recon within a short while of his existence as Sagamu ambassador.
Born in 1987 into a modest but popular paternal family of Ogunfero Compound, Ijagba Sagamu and maternal family of the prestigious Lewo/ Seriki Mabawoku Compound, Isote Sagamu. His paternal lineage could be traced to the chieftaincy stool of Olisa of Ijagba, where his forefathers were historically called upon to occupy the stool next to the king. His maternal side is known for the introduction of Islamic religion into Sagamu community. But then, humble and simple is what is synonymous to both families.
Isaac father, Mr Olusanya Ibikunle is a civil servant while his mother Mrs. Comfort Ibikunle is also a Tailor. Growing up for Isaac was not lovely as many of us had it. Most especially because his physically challenged mother could only do little to contribute to his happiness. Then one may wonder what kind of pains this son of prodigy would went through growing up.
Isaac started life and education in Ijagba. He attended L.G School 1, Ijagba and Methodist Comprehensive College Sagamu. As a boy, He had learnt the family trade of tailoring and accustomed himself to lives of the locals. In other to assists his parents, Isaac became a menial labourer and was exposed to more hardship immediately after his secondary school education.
After his secondary school education, Isaac gained admission into Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta to read Mass Communication and in 2008 graduated with National Diploma (ND). From there he proceeded to the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife to studied Law. In almost three decades, the period of 2012 and 2015 was adjudged the best the in the life of Ibikunle Isaac as an undergraduate.
Isaac, whose present career objective is “to practice law in a reputable law firm that skillfully maximizes the opportunities in ADR, litigation and other legal practices in the best interests of the clients and in accordance with professional ethics.” Started his legal career as a researcher in the OAU team to participate in the 22nd African Human Rights Moot Competition, South Africa 2013. Led and participated in the 23rd Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition (Africa Regional Round), Abuja 2014, and the OAU Team emerged winner of the competition which qualified the team for the world round. This victory was an important milestone as the team was to participate in the world round, 23rd Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition, Canada in October, 2014.
Unlike Isaac’s many contemporaries who were born with silver spoons, Isaac talent paved ways for him to tour Africa and America without a kobo spent by his humble parents. Isaac did not attend Aunty Bose Nursery and Primary School nor the prestigious Mayflower Secondary school, yet he distinguished himself in the committee of intellectuals and scholars.
In May 2012, 2nd Dr. Tunji Abayomi Inter-Chambers Moot Competition was hosted and Isaac was appointed the Lead-Counsel in the Equity Chambers Team, Surprisingly, His team emerged the winner. It was now the turn of 3rd Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) National Moot and Mock Competition, The OAU team again and again emerged winner. Also, Isaac led, Co-Counsel and Medical Expert witness of the OAU team, Unilorin in 2013 for the 2nd Yusuf O. Ali (SAN) All Nigerian Universities Moot and Mock/Oratory Competition where his team again emerged the winner. What is more, as a passionate lawyer in the embryo, Isaac worked as a lead-Counsel of the OAU Team for the 2nd Eyitayo Jegede (SAN) Inter-Universities Debate and Moot Competition in AAUA, 2014 and his team emerged winner of the competition.
After a meritorious and industrious service to the students’ community and the OAU Team, Isaac was nominated by the students’ intellectual community to become the number one students’ citizen of the prestigious center of learning, fortunately, his nomination received approval through an overwhelming vote from the University’s Students community and between May 2014 and March 2015; Isaac was an Executive President of OAU Students’ Union. This made him the first Sagamu Indigene and University underground who have achieved such in the great Ife. In the same period, he was also appointed Head, Public Lecture Organizing Committee, OAU.
Isaac is a member of the Nigerian Red Cross Society, 2011 till date and had won several students awards for himself:
2013 Nominee as the Nigerian Best Student-Leader of the Year by Behind Awards, Nigeria.
2014 Nominee as the Most Influential Student of the Year by Oscar-ACJ Awards, OAU.
2015 Award for the Most Influential Student of the Year by Law Students’ Society, OAU.
2015 Award for the Outstanding Leadership by the Students Union, OAU.
2015 Award for the Most Outstanding Students’ Union Executive of the Year by OYA Awards, Nigeria.
Apart from Isaac’s academic accolades, the young Sagamite skills and attributes includes: Advocacy, excellent communication, crisis and pressure management, first aid, result-driven, firm-character, team-playing and speaks English, Deutsch and Yoruba Language fluently.
