The plaza was used as a store house for shoes and bags. Immediately occupants of the plaza, which is closely surrounded by some bank buildings, saw the fire, some of them ran hastily through the staircase while others jumped. A woman who tried to jump was said to have fallen with hard impact on the ground causing her skull to burst open. The men of the Lagos state fire service after many hours of battle were able to put off the fire. RIP...even the fire fighters are finding it difficult getting access to the affected building. The roads have been taken over by traders making it so narrow and inaccessible, the buildings are in close proximity to each other lacking ventilation. The so call landlords don't even care, renting out every available space. The rooftop is warehouse, under the stair "mama Bisi" canteen, the veranda as parking space for their goods. |
