Sleep is a very essential part of our life and must never be taken for granted! Sleep is a naturally reoccurring state of mind, it is a medium by which the body gains rest after the daily activities of the day. There is no particular time to sleep, however afternoon sleep is called siesta. Every normal human being on the face off the earth, knows that night is meant for sleep.

But unfortunately, a lot of people from suffer sleep disorders, insomnia etc. Some people find it extremely difficult to sleep at night, prompting them to take extreme measures just to catch a few hours of sleep. Some result to taking sleeping pills, excessive drinking, and also virtually abusing cough syrups like bennilyn with codeine, parkalin, emzolyn, tutolin etc. All these measures have extreme side effects to the human body system, if not immediately, surely in the future!

Research has proven that every human needs at least 7 hours of sleep everyday! but the condition we find ourselves today don't grant us such luxury. We Nigerians wake up everyday as early as 4:00am to go to work and come back home as late as 9, 10pm in the night. There is little or no time to sleep the way we would have all wanted. Money must be made, any man that don't work can't survive in this country.

The reality is that a good night’s sleep is vital to our physical and mental well-being. Inadequate sleep affects us in ways that may surprise you. Sleeping less than seven hours per night on a regular basis is associated with adverse health outcomes, including weight gain and obesity, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease and stroke, depression, and increased risk of death. Short sleep and poor sleep quality are associated with an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease and high blood pressure.

Shorter sleep duration is associated with increased susceptibility to the common cold. Researchers found that sleeping less than six hours more than quadrupled the likelihood of getting sick.
