Ekiti State was agog yesterday as President Umaru Yar’Adua stormed the state with his deputy, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, and other chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to flag off the campaign of Engr. Segun Oni for the April 25 re-run governorship election in the state.

Yar’Adua, who endorsed the return of Oni, said within the short time he spent with the PDP candidate, he observed that Oni has the love and the interest of the people of the state at heart.

He assured the people of the state that Oni, if voted in, will continue with his good programmes, noting that the people could not afford to cast their votes for those who do not want peace to reign in the state but only care about themselves.

According to Yar’Adua, “you have seen what he had achieved in the first 20 months in office; what had not been achieved in the state since its creation. I have no doubt in my mind that Engr. Segun Oni and his deputy want to make Ekiti State a shining example in this nation. I have seen in him that he has the love and interest of his people at heart.”

The president prayed for God’s intervention to restore Oni as the substantive governor of the state in the re-run election.
Earlier, the Vice President, who arrived the state on Friday and to held a stakeholders’ meeting with the national leadership of the party in Ado-Ekiti, said the leadership of the party would leave no stone unturned to ensure its candidate wins the re-run poll.
All PDP governors in the South West, Kaduna, Akwa Ibom and Kwara states had also arrived the state on Friday for the campaign flag-off.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole, in a song he rendered at the flag off ceremony, noted that military would be brought to the state if the opposition did not allow conducive environment for the re-run poll to take place.
After addressing the mammoth crowd at the Ekiti Baptist High School, Igede-Ekiti, the venue of the event, the PDP National Chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor, handed over the flag of the party to Oni and presented him to Yar’Adua.

Yar'adua is a very useless man is this what he suppose to be doing? how about increasing those MW, that has reduce be over 700MW in the past few days. I am just praying AC wins.
